Andre Pallante Nabs Third Victory
Andre Pallante allowed five hits and two earned runs over 7 2/3 innings in Saturday's 4-2 win against the Washington Nationals. The 26-year-old walked none and set a new season-high with seven punchouts, earning his third victory in eight starts (3-2). Pallante stymied the Nationals through seven innings, but ran into trouble in the bottom of the eighth when Jose Tena singled and Dylan Crews sent him home two batters later with a 396-foot bomb over the left field wall. It's a nice rebound for him after giving up four runs and allowing four walks (nine hits) in his last time out against the New York Mets. He's already given up four runs thrice, but three or fewer in his other five appearances. Pallante's inconsistencies make him a shaky start more often than not, but he'll have a decent chance to get back in the win column the next time he toes the rubber, a road outing against the Kansas City Royals.
