Allan Winans Recalled to Start on Monday
Allan Winans from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Winans will make a spot start for left-hander Ryan Yarbrough (oblique) and start in Monday's series opener against the Cincinnati Reds. It will be the 29-year-old's first big-league start of the year and just his ninth total MLB start after debuting with the Atlanta Braves in the majors in 2023. The former 17th-round pick in 2018 out of Campbell went 7-0 with a stingy 0.90 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 59 strikeouts and 13 walks in 50 innings over 11 appearances (nine starts) for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before his call-up. The Reds offense is around middle of the pack this year in MLB in OPS. Winans has a 7.20 career ERA at the major-league level with a 1.57 WHIP and 38 K's in 40 innings over his eight starts.
