Washington Capitals winger Alex Ovechkin scored his 33rd career hat trick and registered an assist in Thursday's 8-4 road victory over the Montreal Canadiens. He netted an early power-play goal and had two goals inside the final minutes of play, including one in an empty-net situation. With a four-point performance on Thursday, Ovechkin entered the NHL's all-time top 10 scoring list, surpassing Joe Sakic. The Capitals captain boasts 1,643 points (907 goals, 736 assists) in 1,512 career games. Ovechkin had a slow start to the season but is now firing on all cylinders. The veteran star has lit the lamp in four straight games, increasing his scoring total to 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) over 21 games played.--Taavi Pailk
