Alex Kirilloff Needs Wrist Surgery
3 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Alex Kirilloff (wrist) has decided to undergo wrist surgery and will be placed on the injured list. Kirilloff has been dealing with issues with the same wrist since early May. While the Twins haven't given an exact timetable for his return, at this point with the second half of the season already begun, it's likely that Kirilloff will miss the remainder of the season. It's a tough blow for the Twins and Kirilloff, as he's one of their rising stars in the outfield and at first base. The 23-year-old was hitting a respectable .251/.299/.423 with eight home runs, 23 runs and 34 RBI in 215 at-bats. With Minnesota going nowhere as far the postseason in 2021, it makes sense for the Twins to get Kirilloff right. The left-handed slugger and former top prospect could be a breakout candidate in 2022. Gilberto Celestino figures to see some more playing time in the outfield, while Miguel Sano could be more of a regular at the cold corner with Kirilloff likely out for the rest of the season.
