Alek Manoah Has Contract Renewed
2 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays have renewed starting pitcher Alek Manoah's contract. He'll earn $745,650 in 2023, according to an industry source. The MLB minimum this year is $720,000. Manoah took a renewal last year as well and made $706,200 rather than accepting the team's scale-based raise. The 25-year-old right-hander finished third in the American League Cy Young voting last year, going 16-7 with a 2.24 ERA (3.35 FIP), 0.99 WHIP and 22.9 percent strikeout rate in 31 starts in just his second big-league season with Toronto. His strikeout rate dropped a bit in 2022, but fantasy managers really weren't complaining. Manoah's fantasy arrow is pointed firmly upwards as he attempts to back up his excellent performance last year with an encore in 2023.
