Adam Thielen Is Extremely Efficient
4 years agoMinnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen was slightly more efficient than impressive rookie teammate Justin Jefferson last year, even though Thielen had fewer targets and catches. Thielen had the sixth-best catch rate over expectation at +9.2 percent and also caught 14 touchdown passes. He has a catch rate over expectation of +15.2 percent on outbreaking routes since 2018, the highest rate in the league. However, his inside usage decreased from almost 50 percent in 2018 to 26.4 percent in 2020. But when Thielen was inside, he still had a catch rate above expectation of +13.6 percent. The 30-year-old mostly works outside now and will likely continue to see a dip in his overall numbers this year with Jefferson's emergence. Thielen remains a solid WR2/3, but fantasy managers won't be able to rely on the high number of touchdowns again in 2021.
