BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~115 Overall
CURRENT ADP: ~130
ANALYSIS: In his first three seasons with the Colts, Nyheim Hines has almost as many targets (215) as he does rush attempts (226). Last season, he averaged 12.1 PPR points on 10.3 opportunities (carries + targets) per game, resulting in a high-end RB3 finish on a per-game basis. But with second-year RB Jonathan Taylor operating as the clear lead back in 2021, and Marlon Mack set to return, Hines' total touches are sure to take a hit.
In the eight games Taylor played over 50% of the snaps in 2020, Hines averaged just eight opportunities per game. His upside is potentially capped due to his limited role in the offense, but he could still deliver as an RB3 in PPR leagues as the primary pass-catching back. That said, it's very possible that Taylor, a capable pass-catcher himself, eats into Hines' role even more, further limiting his appeal this season. All this before mentioning Philip Rivers, the king of checking it down to his running backs, is no longer the quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts.
With all of that being said, he can be a late-round draft sleeper, especially in PPR leagues. Let's not forget that Hines finished as the RB20 in half-PPR formats in 2020 due to seeing the third-most targets (77) amongst running backs. He is elusive and sure-handed, two traits that should continue to make him a part of the Colts' offensive game plan. Fantasy managers can draft Hines as the RB46, meaning he isn't going off draft boards until the end of the 10th round if not later. Drafting a late-round running back who offers RB3/FLEX upside, with RB2 value within reach, is great value and something to consider when you're on the clock.
