MLB DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers – DraftKings Advice for 9/5/15

The MLB season pushes forward on Saturday with a full slate of games and a host of solid match-ups with playoff implications. The Twins are set to visit the Astros, the Rangers set to visit the Angels, and not far from Los Angeles the Padres are hosting the Dodgers in a battle of West Coast teams. Felix Hernandez, Jared Weaver and David Price comprise a handful of ace pitchers set to take the mound, while Jake Arrieta will see his first start since throwing a no-hitter last weekend. Runs could still be commonplace, however, with both the Rockies and Blue Jays at home.

Here are a handful of pitchers, infielders, and outfielders to target for DraftKings today.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $70,000 in cash prizes, including 7K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Colorado Rockies (vs SF)

The Rockies certainly do love the thin air of Coors Field. The team is hitting above .300 at home, more than 70 points higher than their mark on the road, and is averaging more than 5 R/G and nearly 1.5 HR/G at home as well. Jake Peavy’s ERA, which currently sits north of 4.30, doesn’t take anything away from that success, making the Rockies lineup a potential stack option today.

Boston Red Sox (vs PHI)

Like the Rockies, Boston likes hitting at home too. The Red Sox, somewhat quietly among the highest scoring offenses in baseball, are hitting nearly 60 points better at Fenway than they are elsewhere and are set to face a young pitcher in Alec Asher who struggled in his first start. Even more promising is the fact that Asher is a righty, and 93 of Boston’s 129 HR have come against righties in 2015.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Felix Hernandez (SP, SEA) - $10,700

If you’re going for one of the ace pitchers on the mound Saturday, go with King Felix. A’s batters have 302 cumulative career AB against Hernandez, which is a huge sample size, and have only managed six HR and 16 RBI across those AB while hitting .228. Hernandez may not be in gaping Safeco field, but he should do just fine anyways.

Brad Hand (SP, MIA) - $4,600

If you’re looking for a cheap sleeper to go with Hernandez, try Brad Hand. The Miami pitcher has been shaky since moving to a starting role, but Mets batters are hitting a measly .212 against Hand across 80 cumulative AB and have only three RBI and no HR against the lefty. The stats make this look promising.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Edwin Encarnacion (1B, TOR) - $5,200

His price may make him neither a sleeper nor a value pick, but no other infield hitter comes close to Encarnacion right now. The powerful first baseman has enjoyed one of the greatest hitting streaks in recent memory over the last couple of weeks, smacking seven HR with 25 RBI in his last 15 games. He’s cooled down as of late, but remains one of the best DFS options available.

Ruben Tejada (SS, NYM) - $3,100

Despite playing sparingly over the last couple of weeks, Tejada has an AVG around .300 over his last 30 games and has been a solid producer at the SS position. If he’s in the lineup on Saturday, and he likely will be, he’s worth a shot.

Ryan Zimmerman (3B, WSH) - $4,400

Zimmerman is arguably the hottest hitter in baseball right now and seems to look more and more like his old self with each passing game. He’s not terribly cheap, but he’s not terribly expensive either, and a powerful hitter on a hot streak oozes with DFS potential.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Matt Kemp (OF, SD) - $4,000

Priced well below his value, Kemp isn’t having an MVP season but has been a solid producer throughout the year. He’s got 17 RBI over his last 15 games and has a few HR in that span as well, plus he’ll face a pitcher in Brett Anderson who has been somewhat shaky as of late.

Carlos Gomez (OF, HOU) - $3,800

Gomez doesn’t seem to like his old team all that much. The dynamic outfielder has a .368 AVG against the Twins this year and boasts a .345 AVG with six HR and 20 RBI in only 113 career AB against Minnesota. Couple that with the tools to explode in many ways on any given night, and Gomez could make for a great play today.

Eduardo Escobar (OF, MIN) - $3,400

One of the hottest outfielders in baseball over the last couple of week, Escobar has started producing at a much better clip for the Twins. He possesses enough contact and power potential to put up points in many different ways and has strong run-scoring potential as well. If you’re looking to target a top option, Escobar could be a cheap compliment.
