MLB DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers – DraftKings Advice for 9/12/15

BAs summer fades and the weather gets colder, each game matters more and more. It’s September, which means playoff pushes and plenty of heated battles. The Yankees and Blue Jays will square off in a double-header today—which likely means fireworks out on the East Coast—while the Angels host the Astros and the Giants host the Padres on the other end of the nation. Right in between the Twins will fight for their playoff lives against the White Sox while the Rangers look to beat the A’s, amounting to an excellent day in the world of baseball.

For those of you with DFS in mind, here are a handful of pitchers, infielders, and outfielders to target for DraftKings today.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $40,000 in cash prizes, including 4K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking:

Boston Red Sox (at TB)

The Red Sox are among the better offenses in baseball with plenty of hot bats, and will face a pitcher in Matt Moore on Saturday who simply hasn’t found his rhythm yet in 2015. Moore’s ERA sits north of 8.00 and absolutely oozes of potential for stacking on Saturday.

Texas Rangers (vs OAK)

Hitting nearly 40 points better at home than on the road, the Rangers have enough lucrative bats in the lineup to pose a solid stacking option against a young pitcher in Sean Nolin and the Oakland A’s on Saturday. Nolin was alright in his first start against Seattle last week, but 10 ER in only 8.1 career IP suggest plenty of offensive potential for Texas.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Dan Haren (SP, CHC) - $7,000

Coming off a great start against St. Louis, Haren will carry an ERA newly below 4.00 into a matchup against Philadelphia on Saturday. Not only are the Phillies one of the weakest lineups in baseball, but Haren has struck out nearly a third of the Phillies batters he’s faced over his career. He could be in for another great start.

Hector Santiago (SP, LAA) - $7,200

A 2.52 ERA in Angel Stadium suggest Santiago likes pitching at home, and a .127 AVG across 71 AB suggests the Astros, who Santiago will face on Saturday, don’t like him one bit. Strong in his last home start against the Rangers, Santiago threw six scoreless innings despite issuing six walks. He could do even better today.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Carlos Santana (1B, CLE) - $3,800

Santana only has 11 hits in 50 AB against Justin Verlander, but six of those hits were HRs. The Indians first baseman is having a dreadful season and has been slumping as of late, but provides enough power potential in this matchup to be worth a look as a cheap sleeper.

Kyle Seager (3B, SEA) - $4,000

Seeing the ball well as of late, Seager has five HR across his last 15 games and has notched a .462 AVG in that span. He’ll face a lefty in Yohan Flande on Saturday, a promising matchup given Seager’s .310 AVG against southpaws thus far this season. Playing at home in Safeco hinders his outlook somewhat, but he remains a solid value.

Buster Posey (C, SF) - $4,100

Nearly $1,000 cheaper than most of the high-end options, Posey may be the best values in DFS today. The Giants catcher, healthy now after tweaking his ankle earlier this week, has seen his HR and RBI totals diminish over the last couple of weeks yet has continued to hit the ball well and carries with him MVP caliber numbers. In 43 AB against Ian Kennedy, Posey has 17 hits and eight RBI. Those HR and RBI have to come back sometime.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Mookie Betts (OF, BOS) - $4,400

When Betts has good days, Betts has really good days. These are some of them. The young outfielder has been hitting extremely well recently, racking up 38 TB with 11 RBI across his current 16-game hitting streak, and is set to face Moore and his 8.04 ERA on Saturday. Betts has the kind of potential to make or break a day in DFS—and the former of those two looks more likely today.

Alex Gordon (OF, KC) - $3,900

Hitting north of .400 thus far in September, Gordon has had success in a small sample size of AB against Chris Tillman, knocking a pair of HR in only 13 AB. He won’t be at home on Saturday, but that shouldn’t hurt a thing given Gordon has blasted three more HR in 20 fewer PA on the road than he has in the friendly confines of Kauffman Stadium. Nestled in a potent lineup, he’ll offer great value.

Jay Bruce (OF, STL) - $3,700

Having a perfectly adequate season, Bruce has been on this list more than once before due to his relatively cheap price and high potential for points. A .500 AVG in 28 AB against Lance Lynn also helps, and so does Bruce’s three HR and 11 RBI against the Cardinals ace as well. He’s somewhat of a gamble—he always is—but one that could pay off nicely today if the powerful outfielder can connect.
