MLB DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers – DraftKings Advice for 8/4/15

By Not That Bob James from Phoenix, AZ, USA (Dbacks P Patrick Corbin Uploaded by Muboshgu) [CC BY 2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Zitong's analysis and advice for the top MLB DFS lineup picks on DraftKings for 8/4/15, as well as a couple of sleepers to keep in mind while building your daily fantasy baseball rosters.

As always, my goal with this article is to help you identify viable options to insert into your DraftKings lineups, based on pricing and matchups data. Here's a compilation of players I like when choosing a lineup for Tuesday, August 4th.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $115,000 in cash prizes, including 10K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Houston Astros Leadoff Men vs Yovani Gallardo

The guys at the front of the Houston Astros lineup should be in a great position to get on base and score runs on Tuesday. With the addition of Carlos Gomez to the fold, the 1-2-3 punch of Jose Altuve, Gomez, and Carlos Correa makes for a great selection of players for you to pick from. As a team, the Astros hold a top five offense against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 107. With Yovani Gallardo’s recent struggles, you can’t go wrong with any of these studs.

Los Angeles Dodgers LHB vs Jerome Williams

Jerome Williams should be terrible as always, so picking some Dodger batters against him should be a good call. As left-handed batters, the Los Angeles Dodgers hold the third best offense in the league against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 121. Adrian Gonzalez and Andre Ethier should both be solid picks for Tuesday.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Patrick Corbin (SP, ARI) - $8900

Patrick Corbin has been rounding back to form in his past two starts and now holds a 3.21 ERA with a 1.00 WHIP on the year. His great strikeout to walk rate has been tremendous news since he is coming back from Tommy John surgery. Corbin should have a nice day on the mound against the Washington Nationals. The Nationals hold a bottom ten offense against left-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 88.

Jimmy Nelson (SP, MIL) - $8200

Jimmy Nelson has been pitching extremely effectively and yet still goes under the radar. Nelson has now posted four straight quality outings and provides great value with his decent strikeout rate. He looks to be a great play against the San Diego Padres, who hold a bottom ten offense against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 90.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Salvador Perez (C, KC) - $3000

Salvador Perez has had his recent struggles but looks to be an incredible value pick on Tuesday. Perez will face opposing pitcher Justin Verlander on the road. Perez has dominated his career matchup against Verlander, going 15 for 35 with a home run. On the year, Perez holds a wRC+ of 96 against right-handed pitching.

Edwin Encarnacion (1B, TOR) - $4100

Edwin Encarnacion is a must-play on Tuesday based on his low price tag. Encarnacion holds a wOBA of .349 against right-handed pitching. He will face opposing pitcher Phil Hughes at home. Encarnacion has dominated his career matchup against Hughes, going 14 for 40 with a home run. Hughes has been very prone to the long ball this year, so capitalize on this advantage.

Ian Kinsler (2B, DET) - $4100

Ian Kinsler is on fire. Doubts about his decline have been silenced by his stellar hitting since the All Star Break. Kinsler is hitting .414, and heads into this week with four straight multi-hit games. He will face opposing pitcher Danny Duffy at home. Kinsler holds a .336 wOBA against left-handed pitching this year. Duffy remains incredibly inconsistent and can be easily blown up by this stellar Detroit offense.

Alex Rodriguez (3B, NYY) - $4800

Alex Rodriguez has simply dominated left-handed pitching this year, holding a wOBA of .445. Rodriguez looks to be a great play at home against opposing southpaw Henry Owens. Owens is making his major league debut and will likely have some butterflies against this tough Yankees offense. Therefore, look for Rodriguez to be in plenty of RBI opportunities.

Carlos Correa (SS, HOU) - $5200

As mentioned earlier, Carlos Correa should be a prime target against Yovani Gallardo on the road. Correa has been incredible this past week. He is 10 for his last 25, with five home runs. The addition of Carlos Gomez in front of him in the lineup only gives him more opportunities to produce fantasy points. Correa has been very effective against opposing right-handed pitching this season, with a wRC+ of 140.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Jose Bautista (OF, TOR) - $4500

Jose Bautista makes for an incredible value pick as your primary outfielder. Bautista has dominated opposing right-handed pitching, with a wOBA of .381. Bautista will face Phil Hughes at home. Bautista is another Blue Jay that has hit very well against Hughes in his career, going 8 for 26 with a home run.

Marlon Byrd (OF, CIN) - $3700

Marlon Byrd heads into this week with a stretch of games in which he went 7 for 16 with two home runs. Byrd has hit opposing right-handed pitching fairly well this year, with a wOBA of .322. Byrd should be a great play against opposing pitcher John Lackey at home. In his career, Byrd is 10 for 32 with two home runs against Lackey.

Nori Aoki (OF, SF) - $3400

Nori Aoki’s price tag is low because he has just returned from the DL. However, don’t let that stop you from picking up some sneaky value on Tuesday, as Aoki faces opposing pitcher Shelby Miller on the road. Aoki has hit opposing right-handed pitching very well this year, with a wRC+ of 117. Aoki has also dominated his career matchup against Miller, going 8 for 21 with a home run.
