MLB DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers – DraftKings Advice for 8/22/15

As always, Saturday has a full slate of games coming our way including prime match-ups pitting the Giants at the Pirates and the Astros at the Dodgers. A red hot Blue Jays team also travels to Los Angeles to face the Angels in a battle of two teams fighting for first place in their divisions. As far as pitching goes, Zack Grienke is set to start for the Dodgers with Gerrit Cole taking the mound in Pittsburgh and Mike Leake hurling for the Reds in what could be another great day for pitching following the no-hitter last night. Here are a couple of offenses, pitchers, infielders, and outfielders to target for DraftKings today.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $70,000 in cash prizes, including 7K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Texas Rangers (at DET)

The Rangers offense has been strong as of late, scoring five or more runs in five of their last ten games. The team is 7-3 in that span and has seen a slight increase in production from several key cogs in the lineup. Prince Fielder holds everything together, of course, and makes everyone around him better in the process. Players like Shin-Soo Choo, Adrian Beltre, and Rougned Odor are all worth stacking.

New York Mets (at COL)

A cushy match-up in the thin air of Coors Field makes the Mets lineup especially appealing today. The team hasn’t been great record-wise as of late, but still has the capacity to light up for 10+ runs like they did last night—especially if Yoenis Cespedes goes long three more times. Either way, the front of this lineup has plenty of pop and produced a combined 11 RBI in last night’s tilt in Colorado. They’re certainly an offense to target.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Dan Haren (SP, CHI) - $7,300

Haren will face a Braves lineup that's dead last in the league when it comes to run production on Saturday. That alone is appealing, but becomes even juicier when adding in the fact that Braves hitters have a combined .205 AVG in 117 AB against Haren. A cheaper option on a day with many aces taking the mound, Haren is an arm to watch.

Chris Tillman (SP, BAL) - $5,500

A rough outing two starts ago has officially been sandwiched between two great performances by Tillman. He nearly went the distance near the end of July and pitched seven strong innings in his last start against Oakland. Now he’ll face a Twins team that does have some pop in the lineup, but it also prone to being shut down. If Tillman can bring it on Saturday, he’ll be an excellent value pick.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Yangervis Solarte (1B / 2B, SD) - $3,200

Three straight games with a HR has Solarte officially hot, and seven RBI in that span makes him a potential sleeper pick hitting leadoff for the Padres. He’ll face a somewhat difficult pitching match-up on Saturday but remains a cheap option in the infield.

Miguel Cabrera (1B, DET) - $5,300

He’s expensive, but he’s also Miguel Cabrera. Five multi-hit games in his first seven back from the DL have it looking like Cabrera was never gone, and that could continue into a home matchup against Yovani Gallardo on Saturday. Arguably the best hitter in baseball, Cabrera is your safest bet if you’re looking to target a big name bat.

Dee Gordon (2B, MIA) - $4,800

The first of a couple of Marlins on this list, Gordon just keeps on doing what Gordon does, gets hits and steals bases. Six straight multi-hit games and five SB over the last week make Gordon a solid option against the Phillies on Saturday. He can’t be relied upon for power, but he more than makes up for it by producing in other ways.

Outfielders to Watch for DraftKings

Marcell Ozuna (OF, MIA) - $3,200

A .400 career average against Aaron Harang only gets better for Ozuna when you realize he has a pair of HR and seven RBI in only 15 AB against the Phillies pitchers. The young outfielder has homered twice in his last three games and even swiped a bag a couple days ago. He could be a nice value pick today playing at home.

Jay Bruce (OF, CIN) - $4,100

Bruce has been bad as of late, but the streaky power hitter has the capacity to light up any game in which he plays. The splits say he has a great match-up today as well, facing a right-handed pitcher in Jeremy Hellickson at home. Fifteen of Bruce’s HR this season have come off right-handed pitching, and the powerful Bruce is hitting 18 points better at home than he is on the road.

Yoenis Cespedes (OF, NYM) - $5,000

After last night’s outing, Cespedes is almost required to be on this list. The slugging outfielder nearly doubled his season production for the Mets in one game last night and now has four HR in only 24 AB within the confines of Coors Field. The entire Mets lineup has appeal today, especially Cespedes.
