MLB DFS Lineup Picks & Sleepers - DraftKings Advice for 7/12/15

Chrisjnelson at the English language Wikipedia [CC-BY-3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Zitong's analysis and advice for the top MLB DFS lineup picks on DraftKings for 7/12/15, as well as a couple of sleepers to keep in mind while building your daily fantasy baseball rosters.

Below you'll find my DFS lineup picks for Sunday, July 12th 2015. As always, my goal with this article is to help you identify viable options to insert into your DraftKings lineups, based on pricing and matchups data.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $60,000 in cash prizes, including 10K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Texas Rangers LHB vs Tyson Ross

The left-handed bats in the Texas Rangers lineup hold a top five offense against right-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 122. This should be a great matchup on Sunday for the Rangers against opposing pitcher Tyson Ross. Ross has been ineffective at keeping runners off base this year with his inflated walk rate. He holds a 3.56 ERA with a 1.45 WHIP. Rougned Odor and Prince Fielder look like great value picks for your infield.

Houston Astros RHB vs Matt Moore

The right-handed bats in the Houston Astros lineup hold a top ten offense against left-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 108. The righties should capitalize against opposing pitcher Matt Moore. Moore has struggled since returning to the mound and has yet to find his groove. He has not been able to strike out batters consistently or go deep into games either. Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa look like great picks for your middle infield.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Johnny Cueto (SP, CIN) - $10900

Johnny Cueto has been spectacular his past few starts. Cueto has given up one run in his last 17 innings of work and has also logged 19 strikeouts over that two game span. Cueto now carries a 2.61 ERA with a 0.87 WHIP. He has a great matchup against the Miami Marlins who hold the second worst offense in baseball against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 80. Cueto should look to dominate this matchup, as the Marlins are missing slugger Giancarlo Stanton and don’t have much firepower to make up for the absence.

Chris Heston (SP, SP) - $6500

Chris Heston looks like a great value pick as your secondary starting pitcher. Heston has been inconsistent this year but remains a nice rookie surprise. He carries a 3.51 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP. Heston has shown an ability to dominate weaker lineups, and that will definitely be the case on Sunday as he faces the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies hold the worst offense in baseball against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 76.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Buster Posey (C, SF) - $4200

Buster Posey remains as consistent as ever and continues to be the cream of the crop at the catcher position. Posey now carries a .303 average with 14 home runs and 57 RBI. He should be a great play on Sunday against opposing pitcher Chad Billingsley. Posey has dominated his lifetime matchup against Billingsley, going 12 for 26. Billingsley has also failed to find much consistency this year and carries a 6.67 ERA with a 1.70 WHIP.

Adrian Gonzalez (1B, LAD) - $3900

Adrian Gonzalez looks to be a great value pick at the first base position. He has cooled down from his torrid beginning of the season but remains one of the top first baseman in baseball. He holds a .286 average with 17 home runs and 53 RBI. Gonzalez has a nice matchup against opposing pitcher Kyle Lohse. Against Lohse, Gonzalez is a career 10 for 26 with 2 home runs.

Neil Walker (2B, PIT) - $4100

Neil Walker comes at a relatively cheap price despite being the hottest second baseman in baseball. Walker has been the catalyst to the Pittsburgh Pirates offense and has been afforded the opportunity to score a bunch of runs lately because of the hot bats behind him. Walker is hitting .405 in the month of July and looks to continue his great play against opposing pitcher Tim Cooney on Sunday.

Pablo Sandoval (3B, BOS) - $3400

Pablo Sandoval is a reach into the bargain bin for Sunday’s slate of games. Sandoval has been mediocre this year but has shown some life at the plate since the beginning of June. Sandoval looks to be a nice pick at the third base position for Sunday because he has dominated opposing pitcher Nathan Eovaldi in a small sample size. Sandoval is 12 for 17 with a home run against Eovaldi

Jhonny Peralta (SS, STL) - $3800

Jhonny Peralta has been absolutely fantastic this season. In a shallow pool of serviceable shortstops, Peralta has been the best and most consistent option this year. He holds a .291 average with 12 home runs and 44 RBI on the year. Peralta should have a nice day at the plate against opposing pitcher Francisco Liriano. Against Liriano, Peralta is a career 16 for 49 with 3 home runs. At his current investment price, Peralta comes should provide plenty of value with his power potential.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

J.D. Martinez (OF, DET) - $5100

JD Martinez has been hitting the ball extremely well this summer and has catapulted himself into the conversation as one of the top outfielders this season. He now holds a .289 average with 25 home runs and 59 RBI. Martinez should remain a key target on DraftKings on Sunday. He has had some long ball success off of opposing pitcher Kyle Gibson, so definitely consider him as your primary outfielder.

Matt Kemp (OF, LAD) - $4300

Matt Kemp looks like a nice pick as your secondary outfielder for Sunday. Despite having an up and down season, Kemp still remains in a valuable position in the Padres lineup by batting third. Kemp is 6 for his last 15 and has hit two home runs in his last three games heading into Sunday. Kemp is also a career 6 for 20 with a home run against opposing pitcher Yovani Gallardo.

Marlon Byrd (OF, CIN) - $3800

Marlon Byrd serves as an excellent target as your tertiary outfielder on DraftKings. Byrd continues to be underrated as a decent low-end option in the outfield. At his current bargain price, he can provide plenty of value with his power surges. Byrd is a career 14 for 30 with 3 home runs against opposing pitcher Dan Haren.
