MLB DFS: DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (4/16/24) - Today's Top Lineups

hunter greene fantasy baseball rankings draft sleepers pitcher waiver wire

The top MLB DFS daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on April 16, 2024. Euan's MLB DFS sleepers picks for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Tuesday, RotoBallers! It's a lovely day for baseball, and we have a 10-game slate. We are two and a half weeks into the 2024 season, and some underperforming players could cause some panic. This is where DFS managers can gain an edge by trusting the process and looking to exploit some low-restored players with a ton of talent.

The night starts north of the border when the Blue Jays host the Yankees at 7:07 p.m. EDT in Toronto. Then, we travel across the country for an evening full of baseball until it ends with the final game in Los Angeles, as the Dodgers welcome the Nationals. As for the weather, it looks like a dry evening with strong winds blowing in for the Royals-White Sox matchup.

This article will provide my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 4/16/2024. The lineup picks will range from some elite players to mid-priced options and value plays. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. Monitoring injury news and today's MLB starting lineups is also essential. Follow me on X @EuanFPL for more DFS advice.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Hunter Greene at Mariners ($9.0K DraftKings; $9.9K FanDuel)

Strikeouts, strikeouts, and more strikeouts. That's what you'll get with Hunter Greene in your DFS lineup. Cincinnati's right-handed flamethrower has 22 strikeouts in 16.2 innings this season with an enticing 21.9% K-BB%. He's limiting hard contact, but his expected numbers don't match the ones on the surface, as Greene has a 4.86 ERA but only a 2.53 xERA through three starts. A game against Seattle should guarantee more strikeouts. The Mariners lead baseball with a 31.4% strikeout rate to RHPs this season.

Jared Jones at Mets ($8.5K DK; $9.7K FD)

There are a lot of pitchers to love in this range, but Jared Jones may require the biggest leap of faith among the three recommended pitchers on Tuesday. Jones has 25 Ks in 18 innings while averaging 22.6 DraftKings PPG. Unfortunately, a matchup with the Mets doesn't foreshadow more strikeouts. New York has the third lowest strikeout rate to RHPs through two and a half weeks. Still, Jones is affordable and deserves consideration on both websites to be your SP1.

Lance Lynn at Athletics ($8.4K DK; $8.4K FD)

The matchup versus Oakland couldn't be better for Lance Lynn. However, the veteran hurler deserves some accolades based on his performance. Through three starts, Lynn owns a 2.63 ERA and has only allowed a home run in one trip to the mound. The A's are a tremendous opponent for any pitcher, and Lynn will take advantage. On the year, Oakland owns the second-highest strikeout rate to RHPs and ranks bottom five in average, SLG, and wOBA.

Also consider: Logan Gilbert vs. CIN, Brady Singer vs. CWS, Tanner Bibee at BOS

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Josh Naylor - 1B, CLE at Garrett Whitlock ($4.8K DK; $3.5K FD)

During Spring Training, Josh Naylor became a popular breakout candidate in season-long fantasy baseball circles. Well, the Guardians' first baseman is delivering on the hype through 15 games. Naylor sports a .340 average and a 1.072 OPS with four home runs, 12 RBI, and eight walks to seven strikeouts. The left-handed infielder has five extra-base hits in his previous six games and should help an overperforming Garrett Whitlock return to Earth with some regression.

Jose Altuve - 2B, HOU vs. Reynaldo Lopez ($5.3K DK; $4.0K FD)

Over the last five games, William Contreras is the only hitter hotter than Jose Altuve. Houston's second baseman is averaging 20.96 FanDuel PPG in the previous five matchups thanks to five extra-base hits, a stolen base, and four multi-hit games. Reynaldo Lopez is living on a prayer with his surface numbers right now because a 0.75 ERA looks far better than his 4.38 xFIP and 41.4% Hard Hit rate. Altuve perfectly lines up to break Lopez's early-season wizardry and continue pulling Houston out of an early-season funk.

Xander Bogaerts - 2B/SS, SDP at Wade Miley ($4.4 DK; $2.9K FD) - Better on FanDuel

Since FD still has Xander Bogaerts as a shortstop, he's a great play. On DK, Altuve is the batter of choice at second base despite costing $900 more than X. For FD purposes, Bogaerts coming in below $3.0K despite leading off for San Diego is absurd. The former Red Sox infielder isn't off to a blazing start in 2024, but he leads a lineup with Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado batting behind him. This is a classic process of results play, and Bogaerts can repay our early-season faith in him with a top performance on Tuesday.

Also consider: William Contreras, Vinnie Pasquantino, Mookie Betts, Brendan Donovan, Ke'Bryan Hayes

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Marcell Ozuna - OF, ATL at Hunter Brown ($5.2K DK; $4.0K FD)

Considering Hunter Brown is coming off an 11-hit, nine earned-runs-allowed performance against Kansas City, DFS managers should be smashing Atlanta assets into their lineups. Marcell Ozuna is the cheapest bat on DK among the Braves' top-five batters. It's a different story on FD, where the slugging DH only trails Ronald Acuna Jr. in salary. Regardless, Ozuna has a 37.9 and 38.2-point performance under his belt in the last four games. That kind of upside has to fit into a DFS lineup somehow.

Blake Perkins - OF, MIL vs. Dylan Cease ($3.3 DK; $2.9K FD)

Milwaukee has suffered injuries to the outfield over the first two weeks of the season, but it has opened the door for surprising production from Blake Perkins. The switch-hitting outfielder has started five of the previous six games for the Brewers and is making good use of the playing time. His 21.18 FD PPG mark leads all outfielders thanks to two home runs, two RBI, five runs, and a stolen base. Unfortunately, he's anchored relatively low in Milwaukee's lineup, but he's still a fantastic bang-for-your-buck pick.

Jesse Winker - OF, WAS at Landon Knack ($3.3 DK; $2.8 FD)

Think what you want about Washington, but these lower-level teams in the league offer some tremendous value in daily fantasy. Jesse Winker is the latest example of this theory after a solid start to 2024. The oft-injured outfielder has remained healthy to begin the campaign and bats second for a feistier-than-we-imagined Nats lineup. Over his last six games, Winker has had three multi-hit efforts with five extra-base hits and two stolen bases.

Also consider: Kyle Tucker, Juan Soto, Will Benson, Spencer Steer, Corbin Carroll

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

1. Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Patrick Corbin

2. Atlanta Braves at Hunter Brown

3. Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Kyle Hendricks
