BALLER MOVE: Target Around ~85 Overall
CURRENT ADP: ~110
ANALYSIS: Indianapolis Colts sophomore wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. has a clear path to targets in an offense that does not have an alpha WR1. At 6-foot-4, 223 pounds, Pittman has the frame to make tough contested catches and dominate in the red zone. He showed some upside as a rookie with two games over 90 yards along with four 25+ yard receptions. Philip Rivers was the quarterback then, and now the Colts upgraded at quarterback with Carson Wentz.
Pittman could have some more opportunities to make big plays downfield. While this is an offense that will likely lean more on the running game, the top of this depth chart is wide open. Veteran T.Y. Hilton currently injured and on the decline, and third-year WR Parris Campbell returning from injury. Many feel that Pittman has both the talent and opportunity to emerge as the alpha receiver here, sooner rather than later.
Pittman is currently ranked as WR49 right around players like Mike Williams and Marvin Jones Jr., but unlike them is arguably the WR1 team on his team. He has the size to dominate defenders when jump balls and one-on-one targets on the perimeter inevitably arise, which he failed to consistently do during his rookie season. Expect Pittman to improve his efficiency and surpass 100 targets in 2021 due to improved quarterback play and another year in head coach Frank Reich's offense.
Let's remember that this is a sophomore wide receiver with second-round draft capital. I'd bet on the former USC star ascending to the top of this depth chart and making an impact in year two. He's a viable fantasy football draft sleeper at the wide receiver position when you approach the middle-to-late rounds of fantasy drafts.
