LCS DFS Picks for 07/17/21 - League of Legends Daily Fantasy for FanDuel & DraftKings

Expert League of Leagues (LoL) analysis and LCS DFS lineup picks for FanDuel, DraftKings on 07/17/21.

Hey everyone, good morning/afternoon, and welcome to RotoBaller's coverage of League of Legends DFS for both FanDuel and DraftKings. Be on the lookout for coverage of the LPL, LCK, and LEC as well as we have some great analysts covering all LoL leagues for the Summer Split. Today, I'll be focusing on the 5-game LCS slate starting at 5 P.M. EST.

The LCS does not disappoint when it comes to underdogs and wild games. Yesterday Golden Guardians, Dignitas, FlyQuest, and Immortals all won their games as an underdog and the FQ vs. TSM and IMT vs. C9 games were wild. I'm hoping for another day of excitement today as we have many close matchups that could go either way.

Today I'll be bringing you my League of Legends advice and analysis for the five-game LCS slate that locks on Saturday, July 17th, at 5:00 PM. Thanks for reading, you can find me on Twitter @nvanhareDFS for more DFS related content!

LCS Matchups

  • CounterLogic Gaming (+274) vs. C9(-354)
  • Golden Guardians (-107) vs. Dignitas (-113)
  • 100 Thieves (-116) vs. Liquid(-105)
  • FlyQuest (+167) vs. Evil Geniuses(-207)
  • Immortals (+149) vs. Team SoloMid(-183)

CounterLogic Gaming vs. C9

CLG had the drama over the week and they came out yesterday and looked super weak. They got a lucky break near the end of the game to increase their kill totals, but they were dominated throughout the game by Liquid and it's likely that's the story of the game as well. I wouldn't count any team out in the LCS format though, especially against C9 who haven't looked incredible this split.

C9 and CLG both like high paced play styles and I expect this game to be high kill in either outcome. This is a game that I like to target for GPPs from both sides as well as target C9 in cash formats. They have a nice high floor/high ceiling combination and tehy're playing one of the worst teams in the league. If CLG can pull off the upset here it's going to be through the winning of multiple team fights and snowballing a lead, so expect high scores in that type of outcome.

Top CLG Plays: Finn, Broxah

Top C9 Plays: Blaber, Zven,Fudge

Golden Guardians vs. Dignitas

This is probably my favorite game to target from a GPP viewpoint. Both of these teams have high kill participations in wins, both of these teams like to fight early in games, and both of these teams know how to throw a lead away. All of these combined and we're in store for 30 mins+ of mayhem.

Golden Guardians and Dignitas have both looked better for the past few games but most of it was due to their ability to get ahead with fights early. In this game, both teams are going to play that way. In addition, both of these teams dont like to give up easily. This means that even when behind we'll see more team fights and the opportunity for the winning team to rack up some extra, unnecessary kills. I likely will be main stacking this game in a majority of my lineups today.

I wouldn't be touching this game in cash game formats but in GPPs it's easily my favorite spot.

Top GG plays: Ablazeolive, Stixxay

Top DIG plays: Neo, Aphromoo

100 Thieves vs. Liquid

100 Thieves have really disappointed this split. Every time I think theyre going to come out and surprise me with good play they just roll over and die. Take yesterday for example. They come up against a much worse team in Dignitas, and they get steamrolled 13-3. 100T were probably my favorite cash play yesterday and they obliterated me.

With that being said, and my tilt from 100T slightly alleviated, I'll tell you that I really have little faith in them today. Liquid has been on a roll lately and 100T has been subpar. Liquid with Alphari has been unstoppable and it seems like they plan on using him for the remainder of the split and playoffs. I'll likely be loading up on Liquid moreso than 100T in this spot. Primarily I'll be focusing on smaller stacks of Tactical+Alphari or Tactical +CoreJJ.

If i'm playing 100T it'll be in GPPs and I'm more inclined to 4 stack them than TL, but I wont be getting much of them overall. FBI/Abedagge both have major ceilings and make for solid CPT plays.

Top 100T plays: FBI, Abeddage

Top TL Plays: Tactical, Alphari

FlyQuest vs. Evil Geniuses

FlyQuest academy is so good. I don't know how it happened, but they are taking the league by storm. There's never going to be a spot until I see them get crushed that I don't just slam them in my GPP builds, especially against a team that doesnt avoid fights at all costs like TSM. Evil Geniuses have played extremely well lately but coming off a demoralizing loss to Golden Guardians, I don't know how well they compete here.

I'll admit a lot of this analysis is just me being stunned at how well FQ have played, but I'm sticking with them for as long as possible. They have great chemistry, a fun DFS friendly style, and a will to win in the most improbable of circumstances.

I like both of these sides in GPPs especially with what I assume will be supressed ownership on the EG guys. FQ has generally been chalk the last few slates and I don't expect much different here. I'd look to use these teams as main stacks in GPPs

Top FQ Plays: Triple, Nxi

Top EG Plays: Impact, Danny

Immortals vs. Team SoloMid

Last game on the slate, IMT vs TSM. Overall, TSM games are never ones to target in GPPs and this one is no different.  They are a team with a bunch of skill but they've been slacking the last week or two. We've seen them falter more the last week than we have all summer split. That being said, I think theyre a bit too technically superior to find a loss in this spot.

Immortals has done well in many spots this split and last, but they're mostly in spots where the other team likes to play quick and fight often. Immortals does well in getting ahead in early fights or winning team fights to come from behind later in the game, sadly for them TSM does not allow this kind of play.

TSM is my other favorite Cash spot paired with C9 and will likely not be using them at all in GPPs.

Top IMT Plays: Raes

Top TSM Plays: TSM, PowerOfEvil

Summary

  1. TSM and C9 are my favorite cash lineup spots.
  2. Dignitas vs Golden Guardians is my favorite gpp game to target and will likely be over the field on both sides.
  3. I'll also be over the field on FQ/EG game in gpps.
  4. I'm not one to make predictions but I'm going to have a fun 5 game parlay each week where I post my picks here in the summary. This week I'm going with Cloud9, Golden Guardians, Liquid, FlyQuest, TSM! Good luck to all that are playing this weekend!
