LCS Matchups

  • FlyQuest(+120) vs. CounterLogic Gaming (-146)
  • Cloud9 (-363) vs. Dignitas (+280)
  • 100 Thieves (-214) vs. Evil Geniuses (+173)
  • Immortals (+173) vs. Liquid (-214)
  • Team SoloMid(-299) vs. Golden Guardians(+231)

Yesterday was a wild slate, everything seemed to go the opposite of predicted and three major underdogs won their matchups, let's see what craziness today has in store for us!

Cloud9 vs. Dignitas

C9 has not had the best of splits, and losing yesterday vs a team of academy players fielded by FlyQuest just adds to the drama surrounding them. They're slowly falling down the standings and finding themselves mid-table. It's definitely not the position you want to find yourself in.

Luckily for them, they come into another matchup that should be easy pickings for them again today, this time hopefully they don't mess it up. Dignitas is a team that loves to fight and loves to fight early. Their main problem is technical skills as well as communication. Their team-fighting ability is solid they just need to work on their communication. Yesterday during the TL game, FakeGod lost the baron fight, and therefore the game, for them by diving in without any backup into a swarm of 4 opposing players. He was easily picked off and killed and the team fight fell from there. If Dignitas can avoid mistakes like that, they're a much better team. If they could do that they'd resemble a team like C9 who love to fight and get ahead early, they just do it with little to no mistakes. Or rather they did, prior to this split.

Overall, C9 is the top cash spot of the day as they are the biggest favorite but they hold worth in GPPs as well as they have insane ceilings.

Top C9 Plays: Blaber, Zven

CounterLogic Gaming vs. FlyQuest

Both of these teams had massive performances yesterday, each winning in a major underdog spot and putting up insane kill totals in the process. CLG put up 25 kills vs TSM, and FlyQuest put up 27 kills in an incredible game vs. C9. FQ's game is especially extraordinary because it was their full academy team that took the game. While I'm unsure if the game speaks more to this academy team being very good, or C9 playing very poorly this split, I can say for sure that this team is definitely better than their main LCS team was. Bringing up the academy squad was a good decision from the staff.

Both of these teams like to play at high paces with CLG having 20.8 KPW and FQ having 21.25 KPW (kills per win. They also tend to die a lot in losses with CLG having a bit less than 18 DPL and FQ having about 17 DPL. We are in store for a nice high-paced game in this one and it's one I'd make sure to target in my GPP stacks. Both sides of this game are viable to use and I'd make sure to get exposure to both of them if you are using multiple lineups.

Top CLG plays: Pobelter, Finn

Top FQ Plays: Triple, NXI

Evil Geniuses vs. 100 Thieves

After a sad performance from 100T yesterday, losing to Golden Guardians, they look to bounce back in a game against a moderate opponent, EG. EG has looked good over the last few weeks and Jiizuke, seemingly, has gotten his act together and no longer is throwing games left and right. EG beat IMT yesterday in a solid performance and has looked good.

While the odds give EG about a 35% of winning I'd say it's closer to 45% in this one. Recent form is huge in these bo1's and 100T just haven't had it. 100T also has the lane advantage in the mid-lane with Abbedagge being entirely better than Jiizuke. Closer also is a good roaming Jungler and should have a large impact.

This game isn't one that I'd target in cash, but having exposure to both sides of it in GPPs seems more than fine.

Top 100T plays: Abbedagge, Closer

Top EG Plays: Danny, Impact

IMT vs. Liquid

With the reinstatement of Alphari, Liquid looked dominant on the rift yesterday. They struggled a bit against DIG because Tactical had been taken out of the picture early on, but the rest of the team picked up the slack and carried this team to victory.

Immortals struggled against EG yesterday after putting up a good fight for the first 15 minutes. After this though, they kinda fell apart. The problem with Liquid today is they're bringing back Jenkins for the matchup. Alphari played very well yesterday but it seems like they may be splitting time for the time being. This gives me much less confidence in TL in this matchup and now IMT GPP stacks seem a little more appealing.

I'd look to roster either side of this in GPP but would likely stray from using it in cash

Top Liquid Plays: Tactical, Armao, Jensen

Golden Guardians vs. Team SoloMid

The first game on the slate, but the game with the least interest for me, TSM vs. GG. We saw TSM lose yesterday in an unorthodox fashion for them and I expect them to get back on track today. We also saw GG win yesterday, but it was against another high pace team in which they were able to snowball their lead early, and they almost blew the lead multiple times. TSM doesn't play this way, rather they play slow and tactical and I don't expect GG's playstyle to be very effective.

TSM is a good cash stack, but as always I'd stay away from them in GPPs. GG makes for an ok underdog GPP play if they can get ahead early, and at low ownership.

Top TSM Plays: TSM, PowerOfEvil

Summary

  1. Liquid with Alphari back is a priority for me on this slate
  2. C9 vs. Dignitas looks to be high scoring, and C9 looks to get back on track
  3. CLG vs FQ is a priority for me on this slate as well, would like to have a ton of exposure to this game
  4. I'm not one to make predictions but I'm going to have a fun 5 game parlay each week where I post my picks here in the summary. This week I'm going with C9, FlyQuest, Liquid, TSM, 100 Thieves. ! Good luck to all that are playing this weekend!
