Lamar Jackson Injury Report: Will Jackson Play in Week 17 for Fantasy Football?

Lamar Jackson - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

Will Lamar Jackson play in Week 17 for fantasy football? Is Lamar Jackson injured or hurt heading into Week 17 of 2025? Read the latest Lamar Jackson injury report.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (back) has had a tumultuous season in 2025, just one year after being the QB1 overall in fantasy football. In 2024, he threw for 4,172 passing yards, 41 touchdowns, and just four interceptions, adding 915 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Through Week 16, he's thrown for just 2,311 yards, 18 scores, and tossed six picks. He's added 340 rushing yards and two rushing scores. He's only played 12 games so far, but his per-game and total scoring are down quite substantially from last season.

Now he's dealing with a new injury, and fantasy managers are likely wondering if they should continue starting him or bench him for Week 17. With waivers coming up, they might also want to know if they should add another QB. So what's Jackson's injury status, and will he play in Week 17? Let's dive in.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Lamar Jackson Fantasy Football Injury Update

Jackson suffered a serious back contusion in Week 16. He was pulled from the game and replaced by Pro Bowl QB Tyler Huntley, though the Ravens ultimately lost the contest. Jackson has played in just 10 full games this season -- in two of his contests, he had to exit due to injury.

He's been a regular on his team's injury reports, often missing practices or being a limited participant due to a variety of ailments. He's been managing issues all season, and they're the likely reason he hasn't been as productive. The back issue is probably here to stay in the short term -- i.e., in Week 17.

Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken has been open about Jackson's struggles. It's not yet clear if Jackson will play in Week 16. He's currently considered day-to-day. The Ravens are technically still in the playoff picture, but at 7-8, their hopes are fading.

Baltimore would have to win their next two contests and the Pittsburgh Steelers, their divisional rival, would have to lose their next two, for the Ravens to make the postseason. That's highly unlikely to happen with an injured Jackson.

So there's a nonzero chance the Ravens could simply shut him down for the season.

Is Lamar Jackson Playing in Week 17?

It's still unclear. It's likely that he wants to play, but the ultimate decision probably won't be his. That said, given that they're still technically in contention, and the final playoff spot could be decided in Week 18, Jackson still has a chance to play.

Be sure to stay updated with his practice reports. We might not know if he'll play until pretty soon before the Week 17 game, anyway.

Lamar Jackson Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 17

The Ravens will take on the Green Bay Packers for their penultimate game of the regular season. Jackson had a rough stretch of three straight games with single-digit fantasy points before he scored 22.1 and 15.6 points in Week 14 and Week 15.

Unfortunately, the injury forced him out early in Week 16, so he didn't manage to score much. It's difficult to trust him, as while he's an elite fantasy quarterback when healthy, he's clearly not healthy, and might not be for the rest of the season.

He might not be 100 percent healthy from his other injuries, either. If you're in the championship, you might want to pivot to another QB. New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has a nice matchup with the Tennessee Titans, and he's played well the last few weeks.

Jackson's rushing upside might be nerfed heavily by his ailments, and he hasn't been the runner this season that he was in previous years. He averaged over 6.5 yards per carry last year, but managed just 5.4 so far this season. He could re-aggravate his injury and be pulled from the game early, too.

He's a risky QB2 against what's been a solid defense most of the season. The Packers no longer have their best defender, linebacker Micah Parsons (knee), though, so that softens them up.
