Joey Votto (1B, CIN) - Week 16 Waiver Wire Pickups

Kyle Bishop profiles Reds first baseman Joey Votto as a potential waiver wire pickup and free agent add for Week 16 of the 2021 MLB season.

BALLER MOVE: Add in All Leagues

ROSTERED IN: 36% of leagues

ANALYSIS: We've touted Votto 'round these parts before, and he just keeps on hitting. While the full-season numbers (.257 AVG, 26 R, 11 HR, 39 RBI in 59 games) don't leap off the page, the 37-year-old has been one of the most productive bats in 5x5 leagues over the past month, and boasts a .913 OPS in his last 200 plate appearances. An ice-cold start and a lengthy IL stint have masked a legitimate resurgence for the longtime Reds slugger, and his Statcast data suggests his results should have been even better. Indeed, his 13.5% barrel rate, 49% hard-hit rate, 113.6 MPH max exit velocity and 92.6 MPH average exit velocity are all the highest marks he's ever recorded.

Put another way: Joey Votto's demise has been greatly exaggerated, and he can help your fantasy squad.
