ANALYSIS: Much like the old gray mare, Joey Votto ain't what he used to be. But the 37-year-old doesn't have to reach his prior lofty heights to be of value to your fantasy roster. Since returning from the injured list on June 9, Votto has hit .263/.391/.500 with three home runs and 21 R+BI in 11 games, making him a borderline top-30 player in 5x5 during that span. He even swiped a bag on Friday, his first since September 12, 2019. Small sample, sure, but stretching back to April 12 he's at .262/.368/.542 - it feels like the IL stint and a slow start have masked something of a renaissance here.
Votto remains free to add in seven of 10 Yahoo leagues, and given his track record is worth a shot in plenty more.
