ANALYSIS: Ian Kennedy has emerged as the Rangers' closer in the early going, which has led to his rostered rate skyrocketing in the last couple of days. If he remains available in your league - pretty close to a coin flip at this point - you should make the move immediately.
A decade ago, Kennedy was a 20-game winner with the Diamondbacks and finished fourth in Cy Young voting. While he had a few other useful seasons as a starter, he never again reached those heights. In 2019, he converted to relief and racked up 30 saves with the Royals. After throwing only 14 innings in 2020, he's found himself back in the ninth inning with Texas. With virtually all of his competition currently on the shelf, Kennedy is locked in as the closer and has already nailed down both of his chances, striking out six in three innings of work.
