Day 1 Matchups (DK)
Matsuyama / Conners (-110 $11) vs Burns / Cantlay
This is the best international team on paper, with Matsuyama and Conners gaining the fourth and eighth most strokes in this field. Cantlay and Buns are the sixth and seventh best golfers in the field making this a very close matchup. I will not be betting this matchup as this line is very fair, but since we are picking a side for all five, we are going to take the home team in the anchor match, who likely need to win this match to avoid going down 4-1.
Russell Henley
Top American Wild Card (+500 $5) Bet365
Henley gets paired up with the World No.1 and now has a theoretical chance to earn 5 points for USA. But we are only matching him up against the other captain's picks (Homa, Harman, Burns, Bradley, Finau). If him and Scottie dispatch Tom Kim and Sungjae Im in Day 1, we could see Henley position himself really nicely to win this bet. By the way, Russell is the fifth best golfer from a strokes gained perspective, yet he is being priced like somebody who is one of the worst golfers in the field.
