Week 8 FLEX Rankings Outlooks
DK Metcalf, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf was held to just three receptions for 50 yards on five targets in Thursday night's 33-31 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. He got off to a fast start, securing a 39-yard deep ball on Pittsburgh's opening drive, but took a backseat to tight end Pat Freiermuth and running back Jaylen Warren for much of the game.
His only other memorable moment was a negative one, as Bengals cornerback DJ Turner II ripped the ball from his hands for an interception in the second quarter. Fortunately, Metcalf should be able to get back on track in a favorable Week 8 home matchup against the Green Bay Packers. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers likely motivated to perform against his former team, Metcalf profiles as a high-end WR2 for fantasy purposes.
Jerry Jeudy, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy (knee) has practiced on a limited basis on Thursday and Friday after missing practice on Wednesday. He is officially listed as questionable with a knee injury heading into a Week 8 road matchup against the New England Patriots. If he ultimately ends up playing, Jeudy will look to break a season-long cold streak as he has yet to go over 51 receiving yards since Week 1.
The Patriots have struggled against receivers this season, allowing the 11th-most fantasy points per game to the position. If Jeudy ends up playing, he would settle in as a low-end WR4 in fantasy leagues. If he sits, look for Isaiah Bond, Jamari Thrash, and maybe even Malachi Corley to see extra opportunities for the Cleveland passing offense.
Tez Johnson, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Tez Johnson has been a pleasant surprise for this offense over the last few weeks. This team is down multiple wideouts, but Johnson has stepped up and delivered lately. The rookie wideout saw nine targets during the previous week's loss to the Detroit Lions. He hauled in four of them for 58 yards and a touchdown.
The 23-year-old has scored in back-to-back games, so he'll look to extend that streak against the New Orleans Saints in Week 8. Emeka Egbuka (hamstring) is ready to go, so Johnson should fall into the No. 2 role in the passing game. There should be enough upside here to plug in Johnson as a WR3 for this weekend.
