RotoCole’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Advice: April 8th Edition

We are back after taking the weekend off with the first of week 2's Daily Fantasy Lineup Card.  In the preseason, we brought you Daily League Strategy Part 1 and Part 2. Now, all season long, I will be giving you my advice on who to start in your daily fantasy lineups. Initially, this advice will cater to those who play on Fanduel.  They offer some of the best gaming options for beginners, intermediate, and expert level players. Our job here at RotoBaller is to make your daily fantasy gaming experience a fun and successful one. Whether you are new to the daily fantasy scene or have been playing for years, our columns will be up-to-date and useful for all levels of experience. If you are indeed new to the scene, tweet me at @RotoCole and I will personally show you the ropes. Let’s win together. Ladies (one or two reading this) and gentlemen, here is your late game Daily Fantasy Baseball lineup advice for the late games on April 8th, 2013:

Prime Time Play on Monday: P Philip Humber ($3,800) - No seriously, don't close your browser. Last time Humber visited Safeco Field, he threw a perfect game. There are many arguments for why Humber shouldn't be started. He had a bad year last year, he isn't a strikeout pitcher, he has no run support in Houston. All are valid arguments but Saunders in Seattle doesn't exactly have a ton of run support either and he had a rough first start. Humber's price allows me to stack my hitters and I love having a dependable lineup.

Top of the order:

1. 1B Lance Berkman ($3,900) - He is 2-4 with two HRs against Jeremy Hellickson in his career.
2. OF Carlos Gonzalez ($4,800) - CarGo is an 8-22 career hitter against Bumgarner with 2 bombs and .440 OBP.
3. 2B Robert Andino ($2,400) - Cheap second baseman who is 4-8 with a homer in his career against Philip Humber. He is a good option if you are going to spend a lot on pitching.

Suicide Squeezes:

1. 3B David Wright ($4,400) - Halladay haunts Wright at night. In his career, Wright is just 3-21 including 11 Ks against Halladay.
2. 1B Ryan Howard ($3,600) - He's 0-5 in his career against Harvey and he struck out three time yesterday. Should be benched.
3. OF Dexter Fowler ($4,100) - Hot so far but way too expensive against Bumgarner, whom Fowler is just 6-25 in his career against.

RotoCole's FanDuel lineup for April 8th, 2013:

C: Buster Posey ($3,600) - He's 4-11 in his career against De La Rosa and his price is as low as it'll get all season.
1B: Lance Berkman ($3,900) - He is a little pricey but a great option against Hellickson tonight.
2B: Aaron Hill ($3,600) - In his career against Wandy Rodriguez, Hill is 3-6 with a double and three walks. Hill has homered in his last two games and he remains an affordable 2B option with big upside.
3B: Adrian Beltre ($4,300) - Small batter V pitcher sample size (1-2 against Hellickson), but he is the only 3B with a matchup I see favorable.
SS: Troy Tulowitzki ($4,800) - I don't like Bumgarner tonight, simply because CarGo and Tulo hit him well. I will pay a lot for Tulo as long as he is healthy and in a favorable matchup.
OF: Jason Heyward ($4,400) - Heyward is hitless in his last four games and his price is still sky high, so why am I choosing him? Well he gets to face RHP Kevin Slowey who throws strikes and has marginally good off-speed pitches. I like Heyward's chances to bust out of his slump tonight.
OF: David Murphy ($3,300) - Hit his first homer of the season yesterday and has reached base in four of five at bats against Hellickson in his career.
OF: Juan Pierre ($3,100) - Has at least one hit in 5 of 6 games this season and is still steal-less. I like him to record at least one hit and get that first steal of the season.
P: Philip Humber ($3,800) - Super cheap and as said before, had a perfect game last time he visited Safeco. Madison Bumgarner is normally worth his price but I don't like his matchup with Colorado at all. Find pitching elsewhere, Maholm and Cahill should be good starts tonight.
