FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (6/22/18): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Kevin Luchansky highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 6/22/18.

We've got an interesting 14 game slate on our hands. The pitching options are intriguing, but they're all fairly mid-tier guys with no true aces in good spots tonight. That should make the playing field a little more even and those who are playing tournaments can hopefully spend less time worrying about ownership and more time on constructing the right lineup.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 6/22/18. FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Sean Newcomb – SP, vs BAL ($8,900)

This whole targeting starting pitchers against the Orioles is going to be a trend (if it isn’t already), huh? Matchup aside, I am a big fan of Newcomb’s stuff, and when he is locating he is a good fantasy pitcher. He’s a very intriguing tournament play tonight as the Orioles’ projected lineup has a 30% K rate against lefties this season and a pretty gross .274 wOBA to go with that. Currently, Baltimore has a 3.7 run projection and the Braves are -174 favorites on the moneyline. As for Newcomb, the WHIP is a bit high at 1.47, but he’s done a good job of keeping the ball in the yard (0.7 HR/9) and the strikeouts-per-nine is an attractive 9.9. He’s also been able to limit fly balls and hard contact in his last two starts to under 35% in each category.

Also Consider: Dallas Keuchel – SP, vs KCR ($8,600)

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Freddie Freeman – 1B, vs BAL ($4,400)

Freeman gets a date with Alex Cobb – one of the worst pitchers on the slate – at his home park, a place that’s very hitter friendly, especially for left-handed batters. His .395 wOBA split creates a nice high points floor, and his recent hard hit rate of 44% is strong.

DJ LeMahieu – 2B, vs MIA ($4,100)

It will be hard to find a more target-able pitcher than Wei-Yen Chen at Coors Field. Chen is an extreme flyball pitcher who gives up a fair amount of hard contact and doesn’t strikeout many batters. DJ has been running hot, too, and both his splits (.419 wOBA, .216 ISO) and recent batted ball data are very positive.

Adrian Beltre – 3B, at MIN ($2,900)

While there are a handful of expensively priced third basemen with good matchups, none of them appear great, and I think this is a good spot you can spend down on Adrian Beltre without sacrificing upside. His recent batted ball data is great (51% hard hit rate over last 13 games), and he has a .357 wOBA split with an ISO mark just shy of .200.

Dansby Swanson – SS, vs BAL ($2,900)

Swanson has really started to come around this month, and his hard hit rate, batted ball distance, and exit velocity are all up at least 7% in each category in June compared to his averages over the past 12 months. His wOBA split is now over .300 as well and the matchup is a good one, with strong lineup context as the Braves have an implied run total of 5.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Jason Heyward – OF, at CIN ($2,600)

I’m just going to keep riding the Heyward train as long as he’s in a solid (or better) matchup, which we find him in today at Cincinnati. It’s a nice park upgrade for offense, the lineup context is strong, and he has a 42% hard hit rate during this relatively hot run he’s on. He’s also got the wOBA split up to .333 on the year.

Mookie Betts – OF, vs SEA ($4,800)

Love getting Mookie below 5K against a soft-tossing pitcher in Wade LeBlanc. The Red Sox have one of the highest implied run total of the day at 4.9 and Mookie has been excellent this season against left-handed pitching, particularly in the wOBA department with a .447 mark. He also boasts some home run upside, especially at Fenway, with a .262 ISO split.
