Jamie Steed previews EPL Matchday 23 of the 2024-25 season, starting on 1/25/2025. He previews each game from the English Premier League, picking bets and providing predictions for each game.

The EPL season rolls on, and we're bringing you our weekly article, which looks at betting picks and predictions for all games. Matchday 23 kicks off on Saturday, January 25, with five games starting at 10:00 a.m. EST. It culminates on Sunday, January 26, when Fulham hosts Manchester United.

Matchday 22 Recap

Not a vintage weekend for us last time out. We failed to hit 50 percent of our picks and didn't manage to carry a parlay over into Sunday's fixtures. That was down to the three main-slate games on Saturday all ending in 2-0 wins for the away teams.

West Ham United being one of those home teams that lost 2-0 ultimately cost us a moneyline parlay with our other picks all winning. Time to dust ourselves off and get back to winning ways this weekend.

Saturday, January 25, 2025

Bournemouth (+110) vs. Nottingham Forest (+245) - 10:00 a.m. EST

Score prediction: Bournemouth 1 – 1 Nottingham Forest

Bournemouth extended its club-record unbeaten streak in the Premier League to 10 games last weekend. Forest will make it 10 games unbeaten in the league itself if it avoids defeat at the Cherries. Bournemouth's injury crisis may play a factor but it navigated that without worry last week.

Bournemouth has the best defensive record at home while only Crystal Palace has conceded fewer away goals than Forest. There's been a total of four goals in Bournemouth's last four home games, so while both teams might score, this looks like a closely fought and low-scoring game.

Brighton (-150) vs. Everton (+425) - 10:00 a.m. EST

Score prediction: Brighton 2 – 1 Everton

Everton has won just once away from home and scored a league-low six goals on its travels. Brighton has only been beaten once at home and comes into the weekend following back-to-back wins. That extended its unbeaten run to six EPL games. A home win looks like the likeliest outcome.

Liverpool (-1000) vs. Ipswich Town (+1900) - 10:00 a.m. EST

Score prediction: Liverpool 3 – 0 Ipswich Town

Liverpool's late show got it back to winning ways after consecutive draws. Ipswich has lost its last two games without scoring. And it has now conceded 10 goals in its last three games. A home win is such short odds we'll just play over 2.5 goals. If Ipswich finds the net, the over will still hit.

Southampton (+600) vs. Newcastle United (-250) - 10:00 a.m. EST

Score prediction: Southampton 0 – 3 Newcastle United

Southampton is on course to beat Derby's record of the fewest points in an EPL season. Newcastle came back down to Earth with a bump last week after winning its previous nine games. It should have no problem getting back to winning ways and an away victory looks too good to pass up.

Wolves (+550) vs. Arsenal (-210) - 10:00 a.m. EST

Score prediction: Wolves 1 – 3 Arsenal

Wolves has now conceded three goals in three consecutive league games. Despite Arsenal's struggles in front of goal, it has scored 14 goals in its last six EPL games. The Gunners only kept one clean sheet in those games and have now gone nine away league matches without a clean sheet.

While an away win is the probable result, Arsenal's injuries and its Champions League game on Wednesday give pause in backing that. We should see goals in this game regardless of the result, so we'll take over 2.5 total goals and at least one being scored by both teams.

Manchester City (-115) vs. Chelsea (+260) - 12:30 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Manchester City 2 – 2 Chelsea

Arguably the game of the weekend sees Chelsea visit a City side that's fresh off a 6-0 thumping. While City has looked close to its best in spells recently, it's still too early to fully back it. It is bringing in some recruits this month, which should help it over the remainder of the season.

Six of Chelsea's last eight away games have seen both teams score. There's been a total of 37 goals in Chelsea's 11 matches away from Stamford Bridge. City's kept just two clean sheets at home and one came against Southampton. We'll play both teams scoring and at least three total goals.

Sunday, January 26, 2025

Crystal Palace (+105) vs. Brentford (+235) - 9:00 a.m. EST

Score prediction: Crystal Palace 2 – 1 Brentford

Palace comes into the weekend on the back of a five-game unbeaten run. It has only lost once in its last 11 EPL fixtures. Brentford has won just once in its last seven games. That was away at Southampton, the only away win this season. A home victory is too well-priced to turn down here.

Tottenham Hotspur (-215) vs. Leicester City (+450) - 9:00 a.m. EST

Score prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 4 – 2 Leicester City

Two sides in dreadful form meet with both sides desperate for a win. The only thing I'm confident in is that we see a few goals. There have been 47 goals in Tottenham's 11 home games. Only Wolves has conceded more than Leicester in away games. There will be at least three goals in this game.

Aston Villa (-180) vs. West Ham United (+450) - 11:00 a.m. EST

Score prediction: Aston Villa 2 – 0 West Ham United

Villa has not lost at Villa Park since its first home game of the season. It has won four of its last five games at home, scoring 10 goals. Any "new manager bounce" West Ham had after hiring Graham Potter disappeared last week and a home win looks too good to turn down here.

Fulham (+130) vs. Manchester United (+200) - 2:00 p.m. EST

Score prediction: Fulham 3 – 1 Manchester United

As Rúben Amorim stated, this may be the worst Manchester United side ever. It's strange to see it at +200 to win away at a mid-table side and still not want to back it. United has scored six goals in its last three EPL games but also conceded 19 goals in the last nine EPL fixtures.

Fulham is unbeaten in its last five home games but has drawn the last four. That makes it difficult to get behind a home win, despite that being my predicted outcome. Instead, we'll play both teams to score, something that's happened in 10 of Fulham's 11 home games.

Betting Picks

The table below gives the odds for each game's three main plays (moneyline, total goals, and both teams to score). My favorite pick from each game is highlighted if you are looking to build a parlay (which I will be playing and tracking).

Season totals 93/219 108/219 120/219
Season parlays 1/21 (-9.53u) 1/22 (-13.41u) 6/22 (+22.05u)

Good luck with those FPL teams and EPL bets. Remember to bet responsibly!
