BALLER MOVE: Start at QB in 32 Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: QB3
ANALYSIS: Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Easton Stick took over as the starter when Justin Herbert (finger) was placed on the IR. Stick has been a deep backup for the Chargers since they drafted him in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He has not played much until this season, only throwing a single pass in 2020, because Chase Daniel was the No. 2 QB from 2020 through 2022.
In his first relief appearance against the Denver Broncos, Stick looked bad, completing just 13-of-24 passes for 179 yards. He started the next game against the Las Vegas Raiders, and he completed 23-of-32 passes for 257 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. All three of his touchdown passes came in the second half after the Chargers had already fallen behind 49-0. Pro Football Focus gave him a 63.6 grade for that game.
This week, Stick and the Chargers face the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are one of the toughest defenses for opposing fantasy quarterbacks. They are allowing the seventh-fewest fantasy points to QBs in Draft Kings' scoring format. They have made 13 interceptions, and an inexperienced quarterback like Stick could be flustered by their pass rush. Stick will also be hurt by the fact that star WR Keenan Allen (heel) will miss the game. Stick should be benched by all but the most desperate fantasy managers.
