DraftKings, FanDuel Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks (8/5/23): Today's Top MLB DFS Lineups

Shohei Ohtani - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Injury News

The top daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on August 5, 2023. Josh Costello's MLB DFS analysis and sleepers for building optimal DFS rosters.

Happy Saturday, RotoBallers! After another busy Friday, we have a Saturday with eight games on the main slate. I will be with you for all of your MLB DFS needs. This will focus on the main slate of games.

This article contains my picks for the eight-game main slate on Saturday, August 5, 2023, for both DraftKings and FanDuel, which locks at 7:05 PM ET.

The lineup picks will range from some elite high-priced players to mid-priced options and value plays. I'll give you a few of my top pitching options and then some infielders, outfielders, and teams to stack. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for other sports here. It's also essential to monitor injury news and today's MLB starting lineups.

DraftKings, FanDuel Pitchers - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

George Kirby, SEA at LAA ($10,000 DK, $9,800 FD)

There are not many pitching options I like more than George Kirby on Saturday. Kirby has been serviceable this season, earning a 3.43 ERA with a 3.58 xFIP and 3.68 SIERA. The young right-hander is facing off against the Los Angeles Angels in Anaheim. Since the beginning of June, the Angels have the eighth-lowest batting average and second-most strikeouts against right-handed pitching at home. The Angels lineup looks slightly different after the trade deadline, but Kirby has the talent to manage.

Kenta Maeda, MIN vs. ARI ($9,500 DK, $10,000 FD)

Kenta Maeda faces off against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Minnesota on Saturday. The Diamondbacks have the fourth-fewest strikeouts and eighth-highest OPS against righties in 2023. That being said, Maeda has been masterful in his return to the Twins rotation. Since being activated from the injured list, Maeda has not given up more than three earned runs in seven straight starts. Maeda should continue his streak against the Diamondbacks.

Others to consider: Kyle Gibson ($7,900 DK, $9,300 FD) vs NYM

DraftKings, FanDuel Infielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Francisco Lindor - SS, NYM at BAL ($5,400 DK, $3,800 FD)

The New York Mets face Kyle Gibson of the Baltimore Orioles on Saturday. Francisco Lindor is the player with the most at-bats against Gibson by far. In those 51 at-bats, Lindor has gone 18-for-51 (.353) with four RBI. The Mets shortstop is also playing much better on the road this season, batting .258 with 13 of his 22 home runs coming away from Citi Field.

Nolan Arenado - 3B, STL vs. COL ($5,100 DK, $3,200 FD)

Arenado and the St Louis Cardinals face left-hander Ty Blach on Saturday. In the 16 at-bats that Arenado has had against Blach, the Cardinals' third baseman has collected 10 hits (.625). The game is also being played at Busch Stadium. Arenado is slashing .312/.360/.527, with 10 of his 23 home runs coming at home this season.

Nolan Gorman - 2B, STL vs. COL ($3,900 DK, $3,500 FD)

Gorman has had an up-and-down season with the Cardinals so far. The young left-handed hitter has had nearly all of his opportunities come against right-handed pitching this year, but he has hit lefties better in the small sample size he's been allowed. Gorman is slashing .273/.365/.568 against lefties compared to .241/.325/.504 against righties. Gorman is also batting .296, with 14 of his 24 home runs coming at home this season. The young second baseman should rake in this game.

DraftKings, FanDuel Outfielders - MLB DFS Lineup Picks

Shohei Ohtani - OF, LAA vs. SEA ($6,700 DK, $4,600 FD)

Shohei Ohtani continues to put together one of the best baseball seasons of all time, hitting 40 home runs and earning a 3.32 ERA with 160 strikeouts in 124 2/3 innings. On Saturday, Ohtani is facing Seattle Mariners starter George Kirby. Kirby is a decent starter, but Ohtani is a generational talent. In his 14 at-bats against Kirby, Ohtani has gone 6-for-14 (.429) with a home run and four RBI. The Angels lineup could struggle against Kirby, but Ohtani will likely still get his hits in.

Fernando Tatis Jr. - OF, SD vs. LAD ($6,300 DK, $4,000 FD)

Fernando Tatis Jr. is one of the most exciting players in baseball, but he has been cold of late, going 3-for-28 (.107) in the last seven days. A home game against a below-average left-handed pitcher could be an excellent opportunity to get him going again. Since June 1, Tatis Jr. has been slashing .333/.455/.519 with a 15% walk rate and 12% strikeout rate against left-handed pitching at home.

Teoscar Hernandez- OF, SEA at LAA ($3,200 DK, $2,900 FD)

Teoscar Hernandez is facing Angels starter Tyler Anderson on Saturday in Los Angeles. Hernandez has not faced Anderson in the past, but it is a well-known fact that Hernandez crushes left-handed pitching. Since the beginning of June, the Mariners outfielder is slashing .409/.435/.545 with three doubles and four RBI. Hernandez can pay off in a big way without costing an arm and a leg.

DraftKings, FanDuel MLB DFS Stacks

St Louis Cardinals vs. Ty Blach

Ty Blach is not a bad pitcher, but he isn't a good one. Blach has a 4.22 ERA with a 5.34 xERA in 21 1/3 innings this season. Blach faces the St Louis Cardinals, who are middle-of-the-pack in most categories against left-handed pitching but have the hitters to cause some damage. The Cardinals have the highest walk rate and the eighth-highest HR/FB rate against left-handed pitching at home. The Cardinals have the potential to reach base often and score a lot of runs.

Also consider: San Diego Padres vs. Ryan Yarbrough, Cleveland Guardians vs. Noah Syndergaard
