DraftKings DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers, and Advice for 8/07/15

By Mr.schultz (Own work) [CC BY-SA 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Zitong's analysis and advice for the top MLB DFS lineup picks on DraftKings for 8/7/15, as well as a couple of sleepers to keep in mind while building your daily fantasy baseball rosters.

As always, my goal with this article is to help you identify viable options to insert into your DraftKings lineups, based on pricing and matchups data. Here's a compilation of players I like when choosing a lineup for Friday, August 7th.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $115,000 in cash prizes, including 10K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

St. Louis Cardinals LHB vs Tyler Cravy

The St. Louis Cardinals have a great matchup on Friday against opposing pitcher Tyler Cravy. Cravy holds a 3.60 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP. As left-handed batters, the Cardinals hold a top ten offense against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 112. Kolten Wong and Matt Carpenter make for quality infield picks on Friday.

Detroit Tigers Middle of the Lineup vs Joe Kelly

As a team, the Detroit Tigers hold a top ten offense against right-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 106. The Tigers will face another struggling pitcher in Joe Kelly, who holds a 6.11 ERA with a 1.54 WHIP. Kelly has not recorded a quality start in six straight outings. Look to Victor Martinez and JD Martinez as solid picks who will have RBI opportunities on Friday.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Jacob DeGrom (SP, NYM) - $12100

Jacob DeGrom has been nothing but incredible this season. DeGrom holds a 2.09 ERA with a 0.89 WHIP. DeGrom’s increased strikeout rate in his past few outings only adds to his value on DraftKings. He should have a great matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays, who hold a bottom ten offense against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 91.

Julio Teheran (SP, ATL) - $7200

Don’t be scared. Pick Julio Teheran. He is an amazing value pick as your secondary pitcher for Friday. Teheran will be pitching at home, against a very weak Miami Marlins team. The Marlins have by far, the worst offense in the league against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 78. Teheran has actually been very effective at home this year. He has an ERA of 2.37 while holding opponents to a .201 batting average.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Yadier Molina (C, STL) - $3200

Yadier Molina looks to be a great bargain pick on the road against opposing pitcher Kyle Lohse. Molina holds a wRC+ of 92 against right-handed pitching this year. Molina’s value comes from his consistency as well as his great career numbers against Lohse. Molina is a lifetime 11 for 23 with three home runs against Lohse.

Chris Davis (1B, BAL) - $4400

Chris Davis is on fire. Since the All Star Break, Davis is hitting .306 with nine home runs. Davis has actually performed well against left-handed pitching this year, holding a wRC+ of 133. Davis will look to keep the good times going against opposing pitcher Andrew Heaney on the road. Davis’s biggest weakness is his strikeout rate, and Heaney is not much of a threat in that department.

DJ LeMahieu (2B, COL) - $3800

DJ LeMahieu has been one of the best offensive second basemen as of late, with a .371 average since the All Star Break. LeMahieu holds a wRC+ of 108 against right-handed pitching on the year. LeMahieu has also hit opposing pitcher Jordan Zimmerman very well in a small sample, going 5 for 8. Based on his price tag, LeMahieu makes for a very safe pick despite playing on the road.

Adrian Beltre (3B, TEX) - $3700

Adrian Beltre has looked a lot more like himself lately, and we can hope that his thumb injury is behind him. He has picked up his offense but his price tag has yet to catch up to his production. Beltre will face opposing pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma on the road. Beltre has struggled against right-handed pitching this year, with a wRC+ of 87. However, he has dominated Iwakuma in his career. Beltre is 11 for 30 with three home runs against Iwakuma.

Jose Reyes (SS, COL) - $3800

Jose Reyes provides very good value at shortstop against Jordan Zimmerman on the road. Reyes has been much better against right-handed pitching this year, with a .296 average as opposed to his .226 average against left-handed pitching. Reyes also has great career numbers against Zimmerman. Reyes is a lifetime 8 for 26 against Zimmerman.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Nelson Cruz (OF, SEA) - $4700

Nelson Cruz is a must-start on Friday against Cole Hamels at home. Cruz holds an incredible .496 wOBA against left-handed pitching this year. He heads into Friday having hit home runs in five of his last six games, while going 15 for 27 during that span. Hamels has lacked consistency this season while Cruz’s price tag is incredibly cheap compared to his production.

Carlos Gonzalez (OF, COL) - $4000

Carlos Gonzalez has hit right-handed pitching very well this season, holding a wRC+ of 158. He had a tremendous month of July and hasn’t seemed to cool down yet in August. He makes for a great value pick as your secondary outfielder on Friday against opposing pitcher Jordan Zimmerman on the road. Zimmerman has been prone to the long ball, and CarGo should be able to take full advantage.

Yasiel Puig (OF, LAD) - $3100

Yasiel Puig’s price tag continues to drop, but his potential remains intact. He holds a wRC+ of 100 against right-handed pitching on the year. Puig makes for a great sleeper pick as your tertiary outfielder against opposing pitcher Gerrit Cole on the road. While Cole has pitched very well this season, Puig has actually dominated Cole in a small sample size. Puig is a career 5 for 6 against Cole.
