DraftKings DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers, and Advice for 5/12/15

RotoBaller is hosting a special MLB DFS Q&A today at 6pm. Scroll to the bottom of the post to find the chatroom and ask your question or click the link above.

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Boston Red Sox RHB vs Drew Pomeranz

The young Athletics pitcher is clearly struggling at this point in the year. After putting up a quality start in his first game of the season, Pomeranz has given up at least 3 earned runs in all of his past five starts, none of which he has lasted more than 5.0 innings. The young lefty struggles against right handed sluggers, holding a .167 OBA against lefties but a .295 OBA against righties. Look for Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval to have nice games.

Houston Astros LHB vs Chris Heston

Heston looked like a suitable replacement for Matt Cain early on in the season, but has faltered as of late and looks to be completely victimized by left handed batting. Heston gave up 11 hits in two of his last three starts and has a .353 OBA against lefties on the year. The majority of the Astros lineup are righties but have a look at Colby Rasmus and Luis Valbuena as potential sleeper picks at their respective positions.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Collin McHugh – SP - Astros ($7400)

Tough day to pick aces on Draftkings with some rough recent performances by the highest priced pitchers. Roll with it and go for a bargain pitcher in an excellent matchup against a weak offense. McHugh was extremely underrated coming into the year but has posted a 3.23 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP in six starts, going 4-0. He has an excellent matchup against the third worst offense in the majors in the San Francisco Giants.

A.J. Burnett – SP - Pirates ($8200)

Moving from the third worst offense to the worst offense in the majors, the Phillies look to be an excellent offense to pitch against. Burnett is having a nice bounce back season after struggling massively in 2014. On the year, Burnett has a 1.66 ERA with a 1.18 WHIP in 6 starts. Make sure to roster him against a very easy lineup on Tuesday.

DFS Catchers to Consider for DraftKings

Yasmani Grandal – C - Dodgers ($4300)

Grandal still remains one of the hottest options at the catcher position. He wasn’t in the starting lineup on Monday but definitely should be back in the lineup on Tuesday against right handed Dan Haren. Grandal has had an excellent and seemingly sustainable start to the season, with a .307 average, 4 home runs, and 13 RBI.

Brayan PenaC - Reds ($2900)

Now let’s move to a bargain option at the catcher positions. As long as Devin Mesoraco remains out of commission at catcher for Cincinnati, Pena should man the position for the Reds. Pena has actually been surprisingly effective for the Reds, holding a three multi-hit game streak and a .333 average on the season.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Freddie Freeman 1B - Braves ($5100)

Freeman is always a safe bet at 1B and has a good matchup against struggling Reds pitcher Anthony DeSclafani in Cincinnati. It’s nice for Freeman to get a chance to go up against a right hander in a hitter-friendly ball park. On the year, Freeman is hitting a .328 average with 5 home runs and 18 RBI.

Jason Kipnis – 2B - Indians ($4800)

Kipnis is the hottest second baseman in baseball. After struggling to produce in the beginning of the year, Kipnis is getting on base early and often for the Indians. He seems to be getting particularly comfortable in his past 2 games, with two 3-hit efforts along and 3 total stolen bases. On the year, Kipnis has a .294 average with 3 home runs and 14 RBI. He has an excellent matchup against Lance Lynn, who has given up more than five earned runs twice in his last three starts.

Adrian Beltre – 3B - Rangers ($4600)

Beltre is a perennial top third baseball in baseball, but he tends to always have rough Aprils. However, the months move fast and Beltre is heating up along with the weather. Beltre has now hit home runs in consecutive games, and looks to be beginning to redeem his fantasy value. Take advantage of his current low investment price, especially against a possibly injured Edinson Volquez on Tuesday.

Marcus Semien –SS - Athletics ($4300)

Semien is on fire! He hit two home runs on Sunday, but not just against anyone. He hit them against Felix Hernandez, proving to be one of the best surprises of the fantasy season. If you don’t trust Hanley Ramirez to be back in the groove of things yet, then Semien should be your guy at shortstop. On the year, Semien has a .307 average with 5 home runs and 14 RBI.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Mike Trout – OF - Angels ($5300)

Seems kind of obvious to pick Trout for Tuesday, but here is a little reassurance. There are many great outfield options but Trout is still the best player in the league and should have an awesome night against struggling Kyle Kendrick, who through six starts has an 8.73 ERA and 1.70 WHIP. That investment price may even be a bargain.

Mookie Betts – OF - Red Sox ($4400)

Betts has an excellent matchup against a struggling pitcher in Drew Pomeranz as described earlier. The emerging star has a seven game hitting streak heading into Monday and should continue his hot bat on Tuesday.
