DraftKings DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers, and Advice for 09/20/15

What's up RotoBallers. Welcome to another edition of my DraftKings DFS lineup picks and analysis. As always, my goal with this article is to help you identify viable options to insert into your DraftKings lineups, based on DFS pricing and matchups data. Here's a compilation of players I like when choosing a lineup for Sunday, September 20th.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $15,000 in cash prizes, including 1K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

San Diego Padres OF vs Kyle Kendrick

Be sure to consider the outfielders of the San Diego Padres as they face opposing pitcher Kyle Kendrick in Colorado. Kendrick has been terrible pitching in his home ballpark, holding a 6.91 ERA at home as well as an overall 7.03 ERA since the All Star Break. Matt Kemp and Justin Upton should be great outfield picks based on the ballpark and their career BVP stats.

San Francisco Giants Middle of the Lineup vs Jeremy Hellickson

The San Francisco Giants hold the second best offense in the league against right-handed pitching, with a wRC+ of 108. Buster Posey and Brandon Belt both look to be great value picks against opposing pitcher Jeremy Hellickson, who has been incredibly inconsistent. He is extremely prone to the long ball, and only has one quality start in his last 5 outings.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Anthony DeSclafani (SP, CIN) - $7900

Anthony DeSclafani makes for a great value pick against the Milwaukee Brewers. DeSclafani remains a tricky lottery play, but his low price tag makes him the ideal option for larger competition pools. He is coming off two straight impressive starts against the Cardinals and the Pirates. This Sunday matchup should be great for DeSclafani, as the Brewers hold a bottom five offense against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 90.

Julio Teheran (SP, ATL) - $7700

Julio Teheran is a must-start as your secondary pitcher against the Philadelphia Phillies at home. Teheran’s struggles earlier this season are well noted and his price tag reflects his lack of consistency. However, Teheran has an acceptable 3.23 ERA at home. He has only given up four runs over 21.0 innings of work against the Phillies this year. The Phillies also happen to hold the second worst offense in the league against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 84.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Buster Posey (C, SF) - $4200

As mentioned earlier, Buster Posey looks to be a great value pick against opposing pitcher Jeremy Hellickson at home. Posey has been terrific against right-handed pitching this season, holding a wOBA of .372. Despite the rises of Travis d’Arnaud and Kyle Schwarber, Posey still looks to be the best value heading down the stretch. He has hit .382 with two home runs in the month of September and remains a near-lock for production on Sunday.

Paul Goldschmidt (1B, ARI) - $4900

Paul Goldschmidt should be worth the price tag on Sunday as he faces opposing pitcher Tim Hudson at home. Goldschmidt holds a wRC+ of 148 against right-handed pitching this season, and has hit Hudson very well in his career. Goldschmidt is a lifetime 7 for 23 with one home run against Hudson.

Robinson Cano (2B, SEA) - $4200

Robinson Cano has done a great job of salvaging his season after a rough first half that was likely affected by injuries. Since the All Star Break, Cano has hit .323 with 10 home runs. In my book, he has reclaimed his title as the best second baseman in the game. Cano should be a great value pick against opposing pitcher Derek Holland on the road. Cano only holds a wRC+ of 86 against left-handed pitching this season. However, he is a career 13 for 35 with a home run against the southpaw.

Nolan Arenado (3B, COL) - $4800

Nolan Arenado is a must-start against opposing pitcher James Shields at home. Arenado holds a wOBA of .395 against right-handed pitching this season, and is also hitting .372 with nine home runs in the month of September. Arenado has also dominated his career matchup against Shields in a small sample size, going 10 for 17 with three home runs.

Corey Seager (SS, LAD) - $3300

Corey Seager’s price tag is a complete gift for anyone who has spent generously on other positions. Seager has been one of the hottest shortstops in the league since he has been called up. Holding a .389 average with two home runs, Seager should be a lock in your lineup despite the difficult matchup at home against opposing pitcher Gerrit Cole. Note that Seager holds a .553 wOBA against right-handed pitching.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Justin Upton (OF, SD) - $5300

Justin Upton’s price tag is tough to manage, but his matchup really earns it. Upton gets to hit against Kyle Kendrick in Colorado. He holds a wRC+ of 139 against right-handed pitching this season. Upton is a career 11 for 30 with three home runs against Kendrick. Upton should be prioritized over teammate Matt Kemp if you’re looking for consistency in a smaller competition pool.

Jason Heyward (OF, STL) - $4000

Jason Heyward makes for a great value pick against opposing pitcher Jon Lester on the road. Heyward holds a mediocre wRC+ of 95 against left-handed pitching this season. However, he has dominated Lester in his career. Heyward is a career 9 for 21 with one home run. Heyward also has three stolen bases against Lester, who has earned a reputation for being easy to swipe bags against.

Mark Trumbo (OF, SEA) - $3700

Mark Trumbo should be a great value pick against opposing pitcher Derek Holland on the road. Trumbo has done very well against left-handed pitching this season, holding a wRC+ of 124. He has moved past his struggles from earlier this season, and should be a safe pick given his extensive BVP stats. Trumbo is a lifetime 14 for 44 with five home runs against Holland.
