DraftKings Daily Fantasy Basketball Advice - NBA DFS Lineup Picks for 3/17/16

Sam Nedimyer highlights the top daily fantasy basketball lineup picks for 3/17/16. These are the top value and sleeper plays for your DraftKings NBA DFS lineups.

Top ‘O the mornin’ to ya! Despite it being St. Patrick’s Day, and despite it being the true opening round of the NCAA tournament, and despite you most likely skipping work and/or school, check out all the NBA action going on Thursday night! With so much emphasis on the tourney, there’s bound to be some exploitable action on the professional court. To top it off, the NBA is going hard with more than just the usual four games.

In this article, I will be providing you with Daily NBA picks for DraftKings for 3/17/16. The picks will range from some of the elite players, to mid-priced options, and value plays. Be sure to check out my podcast live streaming on Google+ every Monday and Thursday right here at Rotoballer for all your DFS needs.

Without wasting anymore time, let's get down to it!

DraftKings DFS Point Guards

Kyle Lowry (at IND, $8,200)

I do love John Wall tonight as well, but Lowry’s price has remained in the low $8k range, making him hard not to own in cash games. The offense is just him and DeMar DeRozan. Outside of DeRozan, Jonas Valanciunas, and Bismack Biyombo, I don’t know if I could even name another player. Toronto will eventually need to figure out a third scorer for the playoffs to advance. In the meantime, we’ll take Lowry’s expected 5.5x return against the somewhat hobbling George Hill.

Shelvin Mack (vs PHO, $5,400)

Mack Attack! Watch out for the Mack truck! He’s been playing like a real Mack daddy as of late! Anyone ordering a Big Mack at the game?! Macktacular! Okay, I think you get the drift. Dude has gone for 36.75, 35.75, and 44.25 DraftKings points, respectively, over the last 3 games. Don’t let the return of Brandon Knight fool you. This Phoenix squad is still bad.

Briante Weber (at MIL, $3,400)

Weber is the first of what will be many Grizzlies to be selected on this list. He is, quite frankly, not an NBA player, but he is logging over 30 minutes per outing and continues to produce somewhat just by sheer volume. He took 13 shots in his last game, leading to 12 points while dishing out four assists. Those aren’t eye popping numbers, but it’s what we can expect given the amount of minutes he is playing.

DraftKings DFS Shooting Guards

Khris Middleton (vs MEM, $7,100)

The position as a whole looks pretty bleak on Thursday, so I have no problem going back to the well with Middleton. His stinker last game should be attributed to the Toronto defense more so than his lack of production. Throw out that game, and he has a nice run of scoring at least 40 DK points in six of his last nine, including two 50 spots. Of all the shooting guards going Thursday night, he has the highest floor.

Will Barton (at ATL, $5,300)

I won’t stray too far away from Middleton in cash games, but there are a ton of options to go with at shooting guard in tournaments. Barton doesn’t really blow me away and he doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but that is precisely the reason I will look his way. First, his price has dropped quite a bit after a few stinkers, clearing up space for some other heavy hitters. Second, I expect him to be under-owned in tournaments. Third, at some point, you know he is going to break off a 24 point, 10 board, five assist game before the end of the season. Throw a dart and see what happens.

Nik Stauskas (vs WAS, $3,600)

I’m still trying to figure out if Stauskas is cash safe or a tourney blast. Either way he is in a really good spot against the Wizards on Thursday and I am definitely going to have some exposure to him. The Wiz are quite capable of scoring 140 on the Sixers, but Philly is equally capable of dropping a 115 spot. The scoring has to come from somewhere. Stauskas is coming off an 18 points, seven rebound game against Brooklyn. Perhaps he stays hot.

Sean Kilpatrick (at CHI, $3,300)

Wait a second. There’s a Kilpatrick playing on St. Patrick’s Day!?! You better believe I’ll fit him in a tourney lineup!

DraftKings DFS Small Forwards

Giannis Antetokounmpo (vs MEM, $9,400)

Do you like triple-doubles? Because Alphabet sure does!

Kawhi Leonard (vs POR, $8,300)

Lowry and Leonard make a regular appearance in this piece, but the dudes continue to pour out fantasy production so why switch it up? We know Kawhi is a stud. Let’s not go into his upside for Thursday or any night for that matter. Instead, let’s delve into the recent article that came out about how he refuses to eat wings without utilizing coupons or the fact that the drives the same car he has had since he was in high school. By the way, he signed a $94 million contract.

Matt Barnes (at MIL, $5,800)

Lance Stephenson (at MIL, $5,500)

Alex Stepheson (at MIL, $3,300)

Bored of rostering Grizzlies, yet? Well if you like money, you shouldn’t be. All of these guys deserve serious consideration in varying formats. Stephenson has benefitted the most from all the injuries and is fire right now despite a bum wrist. Stepheson (not “n”) has phenomenal upside in tournaments considering his price and could prove a weird mismatch for Jabari Parker or Greg Monroe, especially if Memphis goes small and he gets a run at the five. And who knows which day Barnes will flirt with a triple double.

DraftKings DFS Power Forwards

Paul Millsap (vs DEN, $7,700)

Once again, Millsap is the most expensive and safest cash game option on the board. He has the highest floor of all power forwards, but doesn’t really have a ton of upside. Play in cash games.

Nikola Mirotic (vs BKN, $5,100)

Mirotic has a ton of upside against the Brooklyn Nets if Pau Gasol is out again.

Nene Hilario (at PHI, $4,000)

Don’t look now, but Nene is starting to play for the Wizards. He is finding his way into the regular rotation and getting a nice run of 20 or so minutes. That’s not a whole lot of minutes so clearly the guy is only a tournament option at best, but he could have a serious spike in efficiency and production against the Philly frontcourt, especially if Marcin Gortat is out with a sore back.

Carl Landry (vs WAS, $4,200)

Landry hasn’t put up the sexiest of numbers over the last few games, but he is returning enough value to be considered cash safe. Washington’s up tempo pace has allowed a ton of teams to either beat them or keep the game close. The Sixers will most likely get blown out, but they will at least score some points.

Nerlens Noel (vs WAS, $6,700)

Not that Marcin Gortat is a great defender, but he is a step up from any other player the Wizards have. If Gortat is out, Noel is in a great spot for a serious amount of rebounds in a fast paced game.

DraftKings DFS Centers

Brook Lopez (at CHI, $8,100)
With injuries to the Hassan Whiteside (questionable with soreness), Marcin Gortat, and the Gasol brothers, Lopez becomes the clear runaway favorite in cash games against a soft Chicago frontcourt. There are plenty of value options at the other positions, so you should have enough money for BroLo.

Bismack Biyombo (at IND, $4,200)

When is Toronto going to seriously consider starting Biyombo over Jonas Valanciunas? JV is a better player on offense, but how can anyone ignore his per-36 12.9 rebounds and 2.6 blocks? If JV sits again, look at Biyombo to return some nice value.
