Derek Carr is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup option for quarterbacks. Target him as a free agent add off waivers for Week 8 of the 2023 NFL season.

ANALYSIS: The Saints aren’t having the best season, but Derek Carr is still airing the ball out and putting up empty yards (which is perfectly fine for fantasy football). The veteran quarterback has three games with 300+ yards passing, including each of his last two contests. Unfortunately, he has just one game this season with more than one touchdown pass.
The one thing Carr does provide is passing volume. The Saints have thrown the ball at least 30 times in five games this year, including two straight games with 50+ attempts. Carr has a decent amount of turnover this season (four interceptions), but is generally good at taking care of the ball and making safe passes to rack up yardage.
The Colts' secondary wasn’t tested much by the combination of Deshaun Watson and P.J. Walker in Week 7, but they haven’t been great to start the 2023 season. Indianapolis features PFF’s 25th-ranked coverage unit and is giving up 18.0 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks this season. Carr also has enticing matchups against the Bears and Vikings in Weeks 9 and 10, giving him multi-week appeal in fantasy.
