Daily Fantasy Golf DraftKings Picks (PGA DFS): A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier

Welcome back RotoBallers! Franecsco Molinari (-21) ran away with the Quicken Loans National winning by eight strokes over Ryan Armour. It was the 35-year-old's first win on the PGA Tour.

This week I will be providing you with my DraftKings lineup picks for A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier. My goal as always is to help put together your optimal daily fantasy golf lineups. A Military Tribute at the Greenbrier

The PGA Tour stays on the East Coast heading southwest to Old White TPC in White Sulphur Springs, WV.

The par-70 course plays to a little more than 7,200 yards, which is average. It has four par-3's, 12 par-4's, and two par-5's. The greens are Bentgrass.

Let's take a look at the stats.

Past winners are Xander Schauffele, Danny Lee, Angel Cabrera, Jonas Blixt, Ted Potter Jr., Scott Stallings, and Stuart Appelby.

Potter Jr. has the most strokes gained at this event over the past four years with 31. George McNeill is next with 25.65, followed by J.B. Holmes, 24.63, Webb Simpson, 24.49, and to round out the top five Russell Henley, 22.86.

This is another weak field. Here's a look at players in the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings competing in West Virginia.

In Vegas, as of Tuesday on sportsbook.ag, Tony Finau is the favorite at 12-1. Watson is the next choice at 14-1, followed by Phil Mickelson and Simpson at 16-1.

 

Stats I'm looking at

With the results, I keyed on the following.

 

Fantasy Golf Lineup Picks for DraftKings (PGA DFS)

High-Priced Players 

There are six players this week priced above $10,000; Finau, Mickelson, Watson, Simpson, Henley, and Schauffele.

Finau ($11,500) - Nothing against him, I think he's a very solid player, but a tournament that has him as the favorite shows how weak of a field this is. His last time out was the U.S. Open where he finished a solo fifth. While he's had two good outings at this venue, T-13, and T-7 last year, his putting has been all over the place this season and isn't any better on Bentgrass greens. He can crush the balls, but it's his erratic putting what scares me.

Mickelson ($11,200) - He's number one in my rankings, and is tops in nearly all the stats I'm looking at. He was cut here in 2012 and '13, but last year finished T-20. I don't want to go with him this week because his actions at the U.S. Open were disgraceful. But I'll have to put my feelings aside on this one.

Watson ($11,000) - He's easy to predict. Watson only plays well on courses he likes, and this is one of them.  He's made the past four cuts including two top-20's. However, this price tag is a little too steep for me.

Simpson ($10,700) - He's made four of the last five cuts at this event including a top-5 and top-10. After winning The Players, he missed the cut at the Fort Worth Inv., then finished T-10 at the U.S. Open before missing the cut at The Travelers two weeks ago. He has insane Strokes Gained Par-5 numbers, but that's the only number that stood out to me.

Henley ($10,400) - Back-to-back fifth place finishes at this tournament. Henley has made four consecutive cuts with a T-6 his last time out at the Travelers.

Schauffele ($10,200) - The defending champ comes in having missed three of his last four cuts. Before he missed all those cuts, he finished T-2 at The Players. During the flurry of missed cuts, he recorded a T-6 at the U.S. Open. He can make a ton of birdies, but I worry he doesn't take his game to another level like he does at majors.

 

Middle-Priced Players

Joaquin Niemann ($9,700) - The 19-year-old Chilean has made his presence known on the PGA Tour. His last four tournaments: T-4, T-6, cut, and T-17 last week. His stats are very good throughout and even has some experience here finishing T-29 last year.

Brandt Snedeker ($8,400) - He's usually a very good putter, but this year has struggled. He makes a ton of birdies though. He hasn't played here since 2012 when he recorded a T-38. He has the potential for a top-10 finish.

Aaron Wise ($7,900) - Since finishing runner-up at the Wells Fargo and winning the AT&T Byron Nelson, he's missed three consecutive cuts. Go figure. This'll be his first time playing this event, but this course should suit him nicely.

Brandon Hagy ($7,400) - I was shocked to see how his numbers looked compared to this price. He's near the top in birdies and strokes gained par-5. He's also a very solid putter on Bentgrass greens. He was T-18 last year. This will be his first PGA Tour event in this calendar year.

 

Low-Priced Players

Robert Streb ($7,000) - Back-to-back runner-ups at this event. His stats are bad and he's missed his last three cuts, but this is where I'll take course history over numbers.

Scott Stallings ($6,900) - He's alternated making and missing the cut at his past five tournaments. However, he's made his last five here. I'll take my chances at this price and for some salary relief.

Vaughn Taylor ($6,700) -  He's made four consecutive cuts. For a player at this price, what more can you ask for? He also ranks high in birdies. After missing his last three cuts here, Taylor will make this one.
