Curtis Samuel's fantasy football start 'em, sit 'em picks for Week 12 (2023). Our advice on whether you should start or sit Curtis Samuel for fantasy lineups.
BALLER MOVE: Start in 14+ team leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: WR6
ANALYSIS: Washington Commanders wide receiver Curtis Samuel has had some big games over the past two years. This year, he finished as the WR10, WR14, and WR23 for a stretch from Week 3 through Week 5. At one point, he was the team's second-leading wide receiver, ahead of Jahan Dotson.
But those days are long gone. Not only has Dotson supplanted Samuel, but running back Brian Robinson Jr. has been the team's leading receiver of late. Samuel only caught one pass for five yards in the Commanders' loss to the New York Giants last week.
Although he left the game against the Giants early, it was already halftime when he was ejected, and he hadn't done anything the previous week, either. He was also held under 10 yards in Week 10. He hasn't gained more than 30 yards in a game since Week 6.
In Week 12, the Commanders face the Dallas Cowboys, one of the league's most intimidating defenses. The Cowboys are only allowing an average of 17.5 points per game, the fifth-fewest in the NFL.
Opposing quarterbacks struggle to complete passes on them. Their completion percentage allowed is 59.4%, the fourth-fewest, and CB DaRon Bland has intercepted six passes. They also sack the quarterback at one of the highest rates in the league, and Commanders quarterback Sam Howell is very sack-prone.
Given Curtis Samuel's lack of production and the tough matchup, it is best to sit Samuel in most leagues.
