Carlos Carrasco is a 2023 fantasy baseball draft sleeper at SP, and is an ADP draft value. Target Carrasco as an undervalued SP in fantasy baseball drafts.

CURRENT ADP: ~310 overall
ANALYSIS: Carrasco topped 150 innings for the first time since 2018 and put forward a 15-7 record with a strikeout per frame to offer us. After a shoddy 2021 with a poor 5.22 FIP behind the 6.04 ERA in 53 ⅔ IP, we got a 3.53 FIP and 3.97 ERA at spacious Citi Field. He brought his fastball usage back down to 35% from 40% and leaned more on his slider to healthy results.
Said slider went from sitting around 85 MPH between 2017-19 to 87-88 in 2020-21, but last year brought it back down to 85. His curveball also dipped a couple of ticks, yet his fastball and changeup held steady. Back to that featured slider, Carrasco gained about 100 rpm of spin rate on it. His limited 2021 had a .271 xBA and .461 xSLG against it (with similar actual results) but those marks fell to a .202 xBA and .315 xSLG in ‘22.
He obliterated the corner of the zone with that slidepiece and kept his changeups low, I just wish his sinker would go away (.391 BA, .609 SLG). At least it’s a distant fourth pitch. I trust the Mets, their distant walls, and their strong bullpen.
