Alvin Kamara start 'em, sit 'em fantasy football lineup picks for Week 17. Should you start or sit Alvin Kamara in Week 17 (2023) fantasy football lineups?
BALLER MOVE: Start at RB in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: RB1
ANALYSIS: New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara has gained over 1,100 scrimmage yards for his seventh straight season even after having missed the first three games. Kamara was on a tear from Week 4 through Week 8, finishing among the top-10 RBs in each of his first five games of the season. He has slowed down since then, finishing outside of the top-12 RBs in six of his past seven games, but he still managed an RB2 finish in Week 13.
Kamara's volume and efficiency is both down. After getting more than 20 carries in Weeks 5 and 6, he has only gotten 20 carries once since then. He was targeted over 10 times in two of his first four games, but he hasn't had more than eight targets in a game since then. At the same time, he has been held under three yards after contact per attempt in four of his past five games.
But Kamara is still a quality starting running back. He consistently gains over 50 yards on the ground and often does the same through the air (although his receiving production is more varied). In Week 17, Kamara and the Saints face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs have a tough defense that has held opposing running backs to the sixth-lowest average fantasy score in Draft Kings' scoring system. Kamara is still the RB6 in RotoBaller's Week 17 half-PPR rankings.
