Adrian Del Castillo is a fantasy baseball prospect sleeper and minor leaguer to know for Week 12 (2024). Read MLB prospects outlooks for fantasy baseball rookies, call-ups.
PROSPECT: Adrian Del Castillo, C, Arizona Diamondbacks
CURRENT LEVEL: Triple-A
2024 STATS: 57 G, 252 PA, .335 AVG, 11 HRs, 47 R, 40 RBI, 7.1% BB%, 17.9% K%, 1.002 OPS, .424 wOBA, 141 wRC+
ANALYSIS: It sure appears the D-backs are set behind the plate for many years to come. Not only do they have 24-year-old Gabriel Moreno already entrenched as their No.1 backstop, but fellow 24-year-old Adrian Del Castillo appears to be knocking on the door for his big league promotion thanks to what has been a big season with Triple-A Reno.
Drafted out of the University of Miami with the 67th overall pick in 2021, Del Castillo has destroyed Triple-A pitching this season after struggling at the minors' highest level in the 2023 season. The lefty-swinging backstop isn't fleet of foot and his defense behind the plate has been questioned but his power has taken off in the 2024 season after hitting just two homers with a .102 isolated power in 37 Triple-A contests a season ago.
Taking the phrase “light tower power” literally here. Adrian Del Castillo has 14 hard-hit balls out of 18 balls in play and 10 of them hit over 100 MPH. pic.twitter.com/TuuoSEza9t

He may not transition to a No. 1 catcher at the big league level but could certainly be a valued platoon to Moreno considering his left-handed bat and the power potential he has put on full display so far in 2024.
