Daily Fantasy Baseball Streamers - Waiver Wire Picks for Saturday 8/21

Jazz Chisholm - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, MLB Injury News, DFS and Betting Picks

Top daily fantasy baseball streamers and waiver wire adds for 8/21/21. Mike Marteny identifies MLB hitters and starting pitchers to stream based on matchups.

Welcome to another edition of our daily fantasy baseball streamers! Are you playing in leagues with daily moves and looking to beef up those rosters? We here at RotoBaller are there for you and all of your streaming needs. Whether you are just trying to get that elusive category win or you are trying to make up for a lackluster start by Cal Quantrill against the hopeless Twins to start the week, we can help. Each day, RotoBaller will provide you with some of the best streaming options to consider in both shallow and deep fantasy baseball daily leagues. Streaming hitters and pitchers to exploit matchups are important to help you win your league.

It is important to know your league if you're going to stream. I'm not just talking about which teams your leaguemates root for. I'm talking about whether strikeouts count against you for hitters or if fielding stats are included. Most importantly, you need to know how many transactions you have per week. You don't want to blow your allotment within a couple of days. You can also use these recommendations to help build your DFS lineups. This article will use rostered percentages and position eligibility from ESPN leagues.

We have seven pitchers going that are rostered in more than 90% of ESPN leagues. Six more are owned in more than half of leagues. That leaves us with a little bit over half the pitchers going today to choose from. Are there a couple of gems to help us finish strong this week? Let's check it out, after the hitters of course.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

Hitter Streamers for 8/21 - Shallow Leagues

Amed Rosario (SS/OF, RHB, CLE) - 48% Rostered

Matchup: vs. LAA LHP Reid Detmers

Rosario is hitting .328 in 31 games since the break and is hitting a cool .355 in August with three steals and 11 RBI. Rosario isn't going to help our power numbers much if at all, but he will certainly help the average, runs scored, RBI, and even pick us up a couple of steals. If you need average help and a few counting stats, Rosario could be just what you need to finish the week.

Jazz Chisholm (2B/SS, LHB, MIA) - 47.3% Rostered

Matchup: at CIN LHP Wade Miley

Those of you who heeded last night's advice got a homer out of Chisholm for your troubles. Don't drop him just yet. This is still a great matchup against a struggling bullpen in one of the best hitter's parks around. Chisholm has three homers and a steal in the last five games and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Josh Rojas (2B/SS/OF, LHB, ARI) - 46.5% Rostered

Matchup: at COL LHP Austin Gomber

They don't come much hotter than Rojas right now. After going hitless in his first six at-bats off the IL last week, Rojas is hitting .548 in his eight-game hitting streak since. Rojas has a homer, five runs scored, and seven RBI in that span. Not only can he help at some of the weakest positions, but Rojas is white-hot right now hitting in Coors Field. Just take my money already!

Myles Straw (OF, RHB, CLE) - 39.4% Rostered

Matchup: vs. LAA LHP Reid Detmers

Detmers has pitched better of late, but I'll still go after him with Straw. Like Rosario, Straw doesn't offer much in the way of power. However, Straw is leading off against lefties and is hitting .320 with three RBI, seven runs scored, and a pair of steals in the last week. If you're behind in steals, Straw is an elite pickup.

Hitter Streamers for 8/21 - Deeper Leagues

Frank Schwindel (1B, RHB, CHC) - 21% Rostered

Matchup: vs. KC LHP Kris Bubic

Since taking over full-time for Anthony Rizzo on August 1, Schwindel is hitting .378 with four homers, eight runs scored, and 15 RBI. He saw his hitting streak come to an end last night, but Schwindel still has three homers and nine RBI in the last eight games. He will help in every category but steals right now.

Connor Joe (OF/1B, RHB, COL) - 13.5% Rostered

Matchup: vs. ARI RHP Zac Gallen

For some odd reason, the Rockies have Joe batting leadoff.  Joe is hitting .333 since August 5 with five homers, 13 RBI, and seven runs scored. So what if he isn't stealing bases? He's finding the bleachers at Coors with regularity. Those of you who grabbed the cup a' Joe last night got a pair of RBI for your troubles. Expect more of the same tonight.

Nicky Lopez (2B/SS, LHB, KC) - 9.6% Rostered

Matchup: at CHC RHP Keegan Thompson

Lopez has been a beacon on a team full of average-at-best players of late. He is hitting .320 with a homer, two RBI, five runs scored, and five stolen bases in the last week alone! I know I said Straw in an elite pickup for steals, but Lopez is just as good, if not better because of position scarcity. You can pick up both for a nice injection of steals and average to win you both categories this week.

Jake Meyers (OF, RHB, HOU) - 2.9% Rostered

Matchup: vs. SEA RHP Logan Gilbert

Meyers has three homers and six RBI in the last seven games for the Astros while sporting a .346 average. He has filled in admirably for Kyle Tucker. Roll him out there for as long as he keeps starting. Meyers has shown good power early in his major league career.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/21 - Shallow Leagues

Eric Lauer (LHP, MIL) - 23.4% rostered

Matchup: vs. Washington

Lauer has only allowed five runs since June 27, a span covering 35.1 innings pitched. The 31 strikeouts is a solid total for Lauer as well. So why isn't he more highly owned? The Brewers have taken it easy with Lauer of late. He hasn't gone more than five innings since July 9 and has only pitched 12 innings in three appearances since returning from the COVID IL. Lauer is likely still capped around 80 pitches, but against this offense, it should be enough to help our ratios and put him in line for a win.

Pitcher Streamers for 8/21 - Deeper Leagues

Kyle Freeland (LHP, COL) - 16% rostered

Matchup: vs.Arizona

Freeland has only allowed more than three runs once in his last nine starts. That was to the Marlins of all teams. He held the Dodgers to four combined runs in two games (one at Coors) during that time. He also held the similarly potent Padres to four runs in two games and blanked both the Cardinals and Pirates. Freeland will never be a dominant pitcher, but he has been solid but unspectacular over the last two months. We can do worse in deep leagues.
