Hello RotoBallers! We have a nice-sized Monday main slate to dissect with lots of batting and pitching options for us to consider. We have some good pitching options on this slate so we will need to figure out which one can get us a few strikeouts and a win while also choosing between some great offenses to choose from.
I'll be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for the DraftKings main slate on 8/9/21. Be sure to also check out all the MLB player news, including late scratches, and the projected and confirmed daily MLB lineups for each DFS slate.

DraftKings DFS Pitchers
Cash Game/GPP Anchor Play:
Joe Musgrove - SDP vs. MIA ($8,500)
Musgrove has been in very good form over his last three outings and with his pricepoint being in the mid 8k range, he seems to be one of the safer arms to consider for this slate. He has managed to go at least six innings over those last three starts and has only allowed three runs while managing to strike out 20 total batters. This Marlins lineup features four batters that have a strikeout rate that is greater than 21% and only has a team ISO of .134 against righties this year. With the lack of offensive firepower that Miami is rolling out and the form that Musgrove has been in, he stands out as a play in all formats.

Freddy Peralta- MIL @ CHC ($10,500)
If you have enough salary to pay up for a pitcher, Freddy Peralta stands out as one of the top arm options on the slate. He is 2-0 against the Cubs this year and has allowed five total runs to be scored in 21 total innings pitched while also managing to strike out 33 batters. He has been in great form over his last five starts as he has allowed seven total runs to be scored while striking out at least five batters in every start. The Cubs moved several of their big names at the trade deadline so their lineup isn't as dangerous as it was at the beginning of the season and could easily be attacked on a nightly basis. Over the last 14 days, they have the fourth-highest strikeout total against right-handed pitchers (93 ks) and are sporting a team strikeout rate of 25.5%.

DraftKings DFS Infielders
Omar Narvaez- C, MIL @ CHC ($3,800)
One of the better overall values looks to be Omar Narvaez from the Milwaukee Brewers. He is below the 4k mark and has flourished when facing right-handed pitchers. Narvaez is hitting .301 against righties this season and lefty batters have hit Mills well as they have combined for a .298 batting average and a .198 ISO against him. Mills is a sinkerball pitcher and he throws this pitch over 35% of the time to lefties and Narvaez profiles well against it as he has a .200 ISO and a .449 XwOBA against that specific pitch type.
Gavin Sheets - 1B/OF, CWS @ MIN ($3,900)
One White Sox batter that really stands out if he draws a spot in the lineup is Gavin Sheets. Sheets has had some decent power numbers as he has six home runs against right-handed pitching this year and is slashing .260 against that handedness. Minnesota looks to be rolling out a potential bullpen game with righty Beau Burrows getting the start but lefty Charlie Barnes getting relief after so there could be some opportunities for Sheets and the rest of the White Sox lineup to generate some runs.
Adam Frazier - 2B/OF, SDP vs. MIA ($3,500)
Adam Frazier has been swinging a hot bat and there's no reason to not consider him on this slate. He has recorded seven hits over his last 15 at-bats and will most likely bat close to the top of the order. Zach Thompson is a tough pitcher to hit against but lefty batters have fared better against him and with how well he is seeing the ball, he could easily rip off a few hits.
Willy Adames - SS, MIL @ CHC ($5,500)
One way to get different on this slate is by paying up at a position like a shortstop and going Adames in tournaments would be the way to go. Adames has been crushing righties this year as he has a .312 batting average and a .203 ISO against that handedness and has a .302 average and a .439 XwOBA against sinkers which is what Alec Mills throws 50% of the time to right-handed batters.
Eugenio Suarez- 3B, CIN @ CLE ($4,000)
Suarez has been dialed in against lefty pitchers over his last 14 days as he is hitting .375 during that timespan and has one home run. Suarez has had a rough year at the plate but if you're looking for someone that has home run potential, Suarez is a prime candidate. He is seeing the ball well as he has hit two home runs in two out of his last four games played and has an ISO of .333 against Hentges's fastball.
DraftKings DFS Outfielders
Jesse Winker - OF, CIN @ CLE ($5,600)
Jesse Winker has been red hot at the plate and in this lefty on lefty matchup against Sam Hentges, he could go overlooked in lineups which makes him a great target for your tournament builds. He has recorded two home runs and three doubles over his last 10 at-bats and profiles well against Hentges's fastball as he has a .598 XwOBA against that pitch type.
Nick Castellanos - OF, CIN @ CLE ($4,000)
Castellanos looks to be very underpriced in his matchup against lefty Sam Hentges which makes him an ideal target in all formats. Castellanos is hitting .307 on the season against left-handed pitching and is tied for the team-high with five home runs against this handedness. Righties have rough up Hentges this year as they have combined for a .234 ISO against him. Hentges throws his fastball quite often to righties and Casty hits this pitch very well as he makes contact 93% of the time and has an ISO of .667 and an XwOBA of .640 against that pitch type.
Luis Robert – OF, CWS @ MIN (3,400)
It looks like Luis Robert will be activated off of the 60-day IL and will rejoin the team for Monday night's game against the Twins. Robert was off to a good start to the season as he was slashing .316 with a .463 slugging percentage. DK has him priced down and he carries big-time upside, especially for this price point in the low 3k range.
