LCS Matchups

  • Cloud9 (-153) vs. Team SoloMid (+126)
  • Immortals (-158) vs. Dignitas (+129)
  • Liquid (-336) vs. FlyQuest (+262)
  • Evil Geniuses (-248) vs. Golden Guardians (+199)
  • 100 Thieves (-377) vs. CounterLogic Gaming (+290)

Cloud9 vs. Team SoloMid

This is a game of two very good teams but not a game that I'm too excited about for DFS purposes. It will definitely be a good game to watch and a fun one in the scheme of the LCS. Team SoloMid loves to play slow and tactically while C9 is the opposite. The entire strategy that C9 plays is the attempt to get ahead in kills early and snowball. Playing tactically isn't something they do super often so expect to see some fight attempts from C9 early and TSM doing their best to avoid.

I might take a few shots here at both sides because if these super early team fights take place, if kills put C9 behind then they're not going to try and slowly grind a comeback, it's going to have us see many team fights and the winner likely ceilings. Same goes for C9 getting the early kills, if TSM is behind then they're going to have to play at C9's pace instead of their own slow, boring one. If TSM can manage to come from behind then their scores should likely reach near optimals.

Top C9 Plays: Zven, Blaber,

Top TSM Plays: PowerOfEvil, Spica

Dignitas vs. Immortals

I'm not sure what to think about this game. Two teams both near the bottom of the table and without consistency in skill or strategy. Some days they show up and some days they just look lost out there. I think with this game we're in store for a high paced mess of a game.

Dignitas loves to employ a similar to C9 strategy, problem is they're not as good at it as C9. We're likely to see failed dives from both sides and high kill totals early. It'll be up to immortals to decide what kind of pace they want to play with from the mid to the end game. There's definitely a wide variety of results that we can see in this matchup so it's one that i'm looking to get involved in my GPP builds.

Top DIG Plays:  Neo, FakeGod

Top IMT Plays:  Raes, Xerxe

Liquid vs. FlyQuest

Yesterday we saw TL get manhandled by C9, but that's not something you should worry too much about. C9 is the dominant team in this league and losing to them shouldn't be something that worries anyone. FlyQuest is not going to put up much of a fight vs. Liquid in this one and I wouldn't take any shots on them in the matchup. Liquid likes to play high paced at times and they funnel the whole operation through Tactical and makes for a great small stack of the bottom lane in this match.

Overall, Liquid looks to control this game easily and should be a priority in cash and looks to be a good option in GPPs as well.

Top Liquid Plays: Tactical, CoreJJ

Evil Geniuses vs. Golden Guardians

This game looks to be my favorite game to target in GPPs on today's slate. Both of these teams are high KPW and DPL teams and the game is likely to be incredibly high pace. In addition to that, both teams don't keep leads well and also are always trying to fight their way back into the game when they fall behind. Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses rate as the highest upside stacks in my model and I'm going to be using stacks of them in a majority of my GPP lineups.

This game is not one to target for cash as it's close to a coinflip but Golden Guardians definitely should come in relatively low owned. Most stacks today will come in low owned because Liquid and 100 Thieves are such masive favorites and will carry large ownership. Look to take advantage of this and use main stacks of all the other teams on the slate.

Top EG Plays: Danny, Impact

Top GG Plays: Stixxay, Ablazeolive

100 Thieves vs. CounterLogic Gaming

The LCS loves to save the tough to predict games for last don't they. 100 Thieves shouldnt have an issue with this game.

CLG is off of their hot streak and no longer are the type of team that will contest with the top teams. 100T is in the class of teams that control the LCS and they shouldnt have any problem controlling CLG in this one. They make for a great cash stack and should be looked at in GPPs as well. CLG likes to fight and 100T will do their best to take advantage of that.

Top 100T Plays: Closer, Abbedagge.

Summary

  1. 100 Thieves and Liquid should carry major ownership shares so look to differentiate with all the other main stacks possible.
  2. GG vs EG is a great spot to take main stacks in your GPP lineups.
  3. Dignitas Immortals is my other favorite GPP targeted game, look to have major exposure to it.
  4. I'm not one to make predictions but I'm going to have a fun 5 game parlay each week where I post my picks here in the summary. This week I'm going with Cloud9, Dignitas, Liquid, Golden Guardians, 100 Thieves.  Good luck to all that are playing this weekend!
