Jack Flaherty Picks Up First Win In 2021
Jack Flaherty became the first Cardinals starter to pitch into the sixth inning -- he also allowed no runs -- this year in his first win of the season over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. The right-hander needed 101 pitches in the outing, but he provided relief for a taxed bullpen early in the season. Flaherty struggled in his season debut, so this was a nice bounce-back effort for the Cards and Flaherty's fantasy managers. He did have four walks and got into trouble early on, but he worked his way out of an early jam and settled in nicely. The 25-year-old has starts next week against the Washington Nationals and Philadelphia Phillies. They're not easy matchups, but Flaherty has earned the benefit of the doubt.
