Vladimir Guerrero Jr. In Much Better Shape
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. spent the offseason working on his fitness, something that he has improved significantly heading into the 2021 season. While Guerrero is trying to earn back some playing time at third base, the Blue Jays expect his improved fitness to upgrade his production at the plate. His launch angle dipped to 4.6 degrees in 2020, placing him 325th out of 352 hitters with 50-plus plate appearances. An improved version of Guerrero should be able to produce more consistent swings. The 21-year-old was in the top seven percent of baseball in average exit velocity (92.5 mph) and hard-hit rate (50.8 percent), but he'll need to lift the ball much more (54.6 percent ground-ball rate last year) if he's to unlock his true potential.
