Wide Receiver Matchups To Target in Week 10

Tyler Boyd - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, Waiver Wire Pickups

Mike Riggall's favorite WR vs. CB matchups to exploit for Week 10 of 2020 DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel. These wide receivers should be tournament and cash game targets based on matchups.

The recommendations from the Week 9 wide receivers matchup article were hit or miss for the most part. Jerry Jeudy, Stefon Diggs, John Brown and Allen Robinson finished inside the top-30 while DeVante Parker, Tyler Lockett, Marvin Hall and Zach Pascal all had poor performances. Jerry Jeudy finally broke out, finishing as the No. 8 receiver on the week, but other players with decent matchups came up really small. Tyler Lockett was unable to take advantage of a decent matchup against the Bills and DeVante Parker simply didn't see a lot of targets. With Kenny Golladay out of the lineup for the Lions, Marvin Hall and all of the Lions receivers struggled against a poor Vikings secondary, but Matthew Stafford missing time with a concussion may have contributed to that.

Nothing is more important than evaluating matchups when making lineup decisions. From a yardage standpoint, the Patriots, Jaguars, Falcons, Seahawks, Jets and Vikings Defenses are giving up the most yards-per-pass which means they aren't great on a per-play basis. The Falcons, Seahawks, Bengals, Jets and Vikings have given up the most explosive pass plays which means big-play wide receivers are likely to have good games against those defenses. Through the first nine weeks of the season the Seahawks, Titans, Vikings, Falcons, Browns and Cowboys are giving up the most fantasy points to wide receivers which makes them units you want to exploit.

Now, here are the top WR vs CB matchups for Week 10. Use these to set season-long lineups, as well as gain a competitive edge in the DFS games.

Editor's Note: The FFPC Playoff Challenge #2 is back with a massive $100,000 grand prize and $203,250 total prize pool, paying down to 100th place. Here's the deal: no salary cap, no draft, no pickups, no subs. Choose 8 players, and as NFL teams get knocked out so will your players, so choose your team wisely. The entries will sell out quickly, and registrations will close on Saturday January 17th at 4:30 pm ET . Don't wait - get your team now and end your fantasy football season with a shot at $100,000! Terry McLaurin, Washington Football Team

$7,000 FanDuel / $6,800 DraftKings – vs Desmond Trufant

The Lions Defense hasn't given up a ton of fantasy points to opposing wide receivers so far this season but that's because teams are running against them so much. Opposing quarterbacks have thrown the fourth-least pass attempts against the Lions, but they have given up 7.7 yards-per-attempt and the seventh-most explosive plays in the passing game (29). Even though the overall numbers don't look bad, the Lions are bad on a per-play basis, so McLaurin could really go off this week.

Tyler Boyd, Cincinnati Bengals

$6,700 FanDuel / $6,400 DraftKings – vs Cameron Sutton

Tyler Boyd has been the most-targeted (68) Bengals wide receiver on the season and leads the team with 54 catches. Cameron Sutton has taken over slot duties in the Steelers secondary and has performed fairly well. Sutton is an extremely sure tackler and does not allow much after-the-catch, but he will definitely allow catches. The Steelers pass rush should make Joe Burrow get the ball out fairly quickly this week which means he will likely look to Boyd over the middle rather than take deeper shots to A.J. Green or Tee Higgins.

Keenan Allen, L.A. Chargers

$7,800 FanDuel / $7,100 DraftKings – vs Nik Needham

The path to putting up passing yards on the Dolphins Defense appears to be through Nik Needham and not Byron Jones or Xavien Howard. Keenan Allen lines up in the slot on 45% of the Chargers offensive snaps which means he will see Needham for most of the day. The Dolphins are likely to bring pressure on Justin Herbert this week which means he will likely look to get the ball out to his go-to receivers, and not take as many deep shots.

Robert Woods, L.A. Rams

$7,200 FanDuel / $6,600 DraftKings – vs Quinton Dunbar

The Seahawks Defense has surrendered the most fantasy points to wide receivers through nine weeks. Quinton Dunbar gives up a catch on 63% of throws made in his direction and 1.46 yards-per-route covered which is poor. As a unit, the Seahawks have given up an NFL-high 44 explosive plays in the passing game which means Woods really has a chance to make a few big plays. This game has an over/under set at 54.5 points so there should be a lot of scoring.

Christian Kirk, Arizona Cardinals

$6,300 FanDuel / $5,700 DraftKings - vs Levi Wallace

Levi Wallace has been decent in coverage this season, giving up a 61% catch-rate and just .93 yards-per-route covered, but he doesn't really have the speed to hang with Christian Kirk. The Bills Defense has been vulnerable to explosive pass plays this season, giving up 29 of them, and the Cardinals should be throwing it often because this game has an over/under set at a whopping 56 points. DeAndre Hopkins will see Tre'Davious White for most of the day which means Kyler Murray will need to distribute the ball to his other receivers this week.

John Brown, Buffalo Bills

$5,600 FanDuel / $5,300 DraftKings – vs Dre Kirkpatrick

As a unit the Cardinals Defense isn't horrible against wide receivers, giving up the 14th-most points to the position, but they can be beaten. Dre Kirkpatrick is a good man-to-man cornerback but he can be beaten, especially deep. If Kirkpatrick, who has been injured, is unable to go for some reason, or he suffers an in-game setback, his replacement would be Jonathan Joseph who has been getting smoked all season.

Nelson Agholor, Las Vegas Raiders

$5,100 FanDuel / $4,900 DraftKings - vs Davontae Harris

Davontae Harris hasn't played many snaps so far this season, but he's been bad in limited action. So far this season, Harris has given up a 71% catch-rate and 3.9 yards-per-route covered, both of which are among the worst marks in the NFL. Since Week 7 the Broncos have given up at least 15 fantasy points to five different wide receivers. Nelson Agholor has been fairly involved in the Raiders passing game lately and has scored in four of his last five games. Agholor's most recent dud against the Browns in a game where wind and rain were significant factors.

JuJu Smith-Schuster, Pittsburgh Steelers

$6,400 FanDuel / $6,100 DraftKings – vs Mackensie Alexander

JuJu Smith-Schuster plays primarily out of the slot which means he will see Mackensie Alexander in coverage. Alexander hasn't been great this season, giving up 1.41 yards-per-route covered and a 79% catch-rate. Diontae Johnson and Chase Claypool should see William Jackson and Darius Phillips on the outside, which means Smith-Schuster definitely has the best matchup between the Steelers receivers.
