FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (7/5/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Troy Klauder highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 7/5/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

Tonight's main slate features 13 games and starts at 7:05pm eastern. Another exciting night of baseball on deck!

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for FanDuel on 7/5/2019. The picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Jacob deGrom: NYM vs PHI ($10,700)

There are a few aces on the hill tonight, but deGrom stands above the field thanks to his matchup. The Phillies have been below-average against righties with their .311 wOBA, and deGrom will be facing them in his pitcher-friendly home park. deGrom is putting together another phenomenal season, with a 30.3% K-rate and a 5.2% walk-rate. He's gunning for his seventh consecutive quality start and is well worth the investment in any contest tonight if you're willing to spend the payroll for him.

Eduardo Rodriguez: BOS at DET ($8,100)

Rodriguez's 4.19 FIP suggests that he's pitched better than his 4.79 ERA. He's still got a solid 24.3% K-rate and has an easy opponent in the Tigers, who have just a .296 wOBA versus left-handed pitching, ranking them in the bottom-five in all of baseball. Their 25.4% strikeout-rate against lefties means that E-Rod has lots of strikeout potential, and he's in a much better spot away from his hitter-friendly home ballpark. Rodriguez is a cheaper option to consider in GPP contests, as he's a low floor, high ceiling play.

 

FanDuel DFS Infielders

C.J. Cron: 1B, MIN vs TEX ($3,200)

Cron has been cold lately, but he's still a fantastic power option at first base. He's got 17 homers on the year with a .490 slugging percentage, and he's in a spot where he can drive in runs batting fourth in the loaded Twins lineup. They should have a big night against Rangers starter Adrian Sampson, who has a 4.58 FIP with a 1.52 HR/9 - an ideal matchup for a power hitter.

Keston Hiura: 2B, MIL at PIT ($2,800)

Hiura was finally recalled from triple-A last week, as all it took was a 157 wRC+ with 19 homers in San Antonio for the Brewers to re-install him as their second baseman. The top prospect is a nice discount option at a weak position, as he's got lots of upside against Steven Brault, who has an absymal 5.28 SIERA.

Josh Donaldson: 3B, ATL vs MIA ($3,100)

It's bizarre that Donaldson remains at such a low price after the last month he's had, where he posted a .905 OPS with nine home runs. Donaldson holds a .269/.359/.525 line against right-handed pitching, which may not resemble the elite level that Donaldson was once at, but it shows that he's still a terrific hitter. He's homered in back-to-back games and should stay hot in an extremely hitter-friendly environment at home.

Jonathan Villar: SS, BAL at TOR ($3,400)

Villar's power/speed combo makes him a valuable fantasy commodity, as he's got 10 homers and 16 steals this season. He's batting .302 in the last two weeks and is in a great position batting leadoff for the Orioles, where he will maximize the number of chances he gets to get on base and score runs. Villar could be looking at a huge performance against Aaron Sanchez, who owns a 6.31 ERA.

 

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

Jarrod Dyson: OF, ARI vs COL ($2,900)

Dyson is another leadoff bat to consider, as he's one of the cheapest hitters you'll find batting first in a lineup. The DBacks face Antonio Senzatela, whose walk-rate (10.5%) is nearly as high as his K-rate (12.7%) - both are awful marks. If Arizona's lineup puts up some crooked numbers, Dyson should easily get involved. Of course, he can also score you points on the basepaths, as he's already got 19 steals.

Adam Eaton: OF, WAS vs KAN ($3,000)

Eaton is a boring play, sure, but he's got a pretty high floor out of the Nats two-hole which is worth chasing in cash games. Eaton has a low 16.4% K-rate with a respectable 10.3% walk-rate, so there's not much risk of him giving you a zero. At this price, he's not a bad idea for some safety.

Alex Dickerson: OF, SF vs STL ($2,800)

Dickerson has been shredding right-handed pitching in a small sample this year, with a 156 wRC+. He's batting cleanup for the Giants, and this might be your last chance at getting him this cheap if he keeps this production up.
