Daily Fantasy Golf DraftKings Picks (PGA DFS): John Deere Classic

Welcome back RotoBallers! Kevin Na (-19) pulled away to win the Military Tribute at the Greenbrier by five strokes. That makes it three tournaments in a row where the winners has won by several strokes.

This week I will be providing you with my DraftKings lineup picks for the John Deere Classic. My goal as always is to help put together your optimal daily fantasy golf lineups. If anyone has lineup questions before the start of the championship Thursday morning, feel free to contact me via Twitter @SethFinkTV.

Editor's Note: Our friends at Fantasy National have built some incredible DFS Golf lineup tools including a Lineup Optimizer, Stat Engine, Ownership Projections and Course Breakdowns. They are by far the best daily fantasy Golf tools in the industry. Seriously. You can read all about them here and see screenshots.

John Deere Classic

The PGA Tour heads to TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

The par-71 plays to around 7,268 yards. It has four par-3's, 13 par-4's, and three par-5's. The greens are bent grass. This is an easy course all around besides the rough being long and greens being average to fast. The greens are bent grass.

Let's take a look at the stats.

Stat TPC Deere Run Tour Average
Driving Distance 283.28 282.87
Driving Accuracy 72% 61%
GIR Percentage 71% 65%
Scrambling Percentage 60% 57%
Three Putts/Round 0.5 .56

Past winners are Bryson DeChambeau, Ryan Moore, Jordan Spieth, Brian Harman, Spieth, Zach Johnson, and Steve Stricker back to back. This was Spieth and DeChaembeau's first tournament win.

Zach Johnson has the most strokes gained at this event over the past four years with 53. Ryan Moore is next with 33.31. Then comes  Johnson Wagner with 31.731, followed by Steve Stricker, 30.96, and Scott Brown, 28.9

This is another weak field. Only two of the world's top 25 in the Official World Golf Rankings will be competing: Francesco Molinari, and Zach Johnson. This is because the British open is next week, which means many top players are taking the week off or competing in the Scottish Open.

In Vegas, as of Tuesday on sportsbook.ag, Molinari is the favorite at 9-1. DeChambeau and Johnson are both 11-1.

Stats I'm looking at

As you can see in the table above, this a very easy course. The combined winning score the past seven years has been an astounding -24.

With the results, I keyed on the following.

Fantasy Golf Lineup Picks for DraftKings (PGA DFS)

High-Priced Players

There are five players this week priced above $10,000: Molinari, DeChambeau, Johnson, Niemann, and Moore

Molinari ($11,600) - The Italian is one of the hottest players on the planet after last week's convincing week. However, he's never played here before. Too steep a price to pay.

DeChambeau ($11,400) - Number one ranked in my custom rankings. He's been playing terrific of late with a win a little more than a month ago and a T-9 at the Travelers two weeks ago. DeChambeau has not missed a cut since March at the Valspar. He's also the defending champion.

Johnson ($11,200) - He's finished top-5 four of the past five years and won this in 2012. He hasn't done anything recently to show me he should compete this week. The only reason he'd do well is because of his incredible course history.

Niemann ($10,400) - The teenager got off to a blazing start last week with a first round 7-under. He couldn't continue that, but he did finish T-5. Based on his recent history, he'll either miss the cut or finish top-10. I'd roll the dice.

Moore ($10,200) - With all due respect, the fact that Moore is a high-priced player when he hasn't finished in the top-10 since April tells me everything I need to know about this tournament. The British Open next week can't come fast enough.

Middle-Priced Players

Brian Gay ($8,600) - He has not missed a cut since April. Gay has great numbers throughout and has been playing pretty consistently with three top-20's in the three of the past four tournaments. Despite missing the cut the past two years, he's going to make it this time around.

Aaron Wise ($8,500) - After winning the AT&T Byron Nelson, he's missed five consecutive cuts. Crazy. I had him last week and will stick by him again. His stats are very good, and he's going to breakthrough one of these weeks.

Joel Dahman ($7,600) - He's number one in strokes gained par-5 over the past 24 rounds. After missing back-to-back cuts, he's seemed to have turned it around with a T-23 at the Quicken Loans National and a T-5 last week at the Greenbrier.

Bronson Burgoon ($7,500) - What a name. He popped up near the top of my custom rankings and I can't get past his name. If it was all about the name, he'd win this week. He has pretty good birdie numbers. He's trending in the right direction and a top-10 at this price would be good.

Low-Priced Players

Vaughn Taylor ($6,900) -  I went with him last week, he was cut, and yet his price rose by $200. Not sure how that happens. He was T-19 here and made two of his last three cuts. I'll ride with him again.

Brett Stegmaier ($6,800) - After missing three cuts in a row, he's made the past two. While he made the cut here last year, he only finished 81st. My custom model likes him and at this price, why not.

Best of luck RotoBallers and be sure to look out for another article coming next week for the the third major, The Open Championship!
