Yahoo MLB DFS Advice (5/8/17): Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks

Happy Monday morning, or afternoon, or whenever you happen to be reading this. There are 10 games on the docket Monday night and the start times range from 7:05 to 10:10 EST. All 10 of the evening games are connected to the GPP's so they're the ones that I'll be focusing on as a result. Yahoo has some great value options to choose from for DFS games so let's get down to business (because, as usual, it's business time).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Yahoo on 5/8/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays on Yahoo.

You can read our FanDuel and DraftKings DFS lineup picks as well. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @justinrklein.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Consider on Yahoo

The Washington Nationals at Camden Yards in Baltimore against RHP Kevin Gausman and the Orioles. Maybe I'm just trying to recoup the money that I lost on Gausman at the draft table. Or perhaps he's been so awful this season that I can't help but target him with the best and deepest offensive lineup in the league. Likely it's a bit of both. Whatever the case is I like anyone and everyone in the Nationals lineup today with an emphasis on right handed hitters.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on Yahoo

Jacob deGrom vs SF ($49)

deGrom has been great this season as he's managed over 20 fantasy points per game in spite of the fact that he laid a 7.3 point egg his last time out. At home against the Giants Jacob will be a massive favorite against a weak offense in a favorable pitcher's park at home at Citi Field in the big apple. I expect dominance in what should be a strong bounce back outing with elite ratios and a healthy amount and K's in a likely win.

Carlos Martinez at MIA ($41)

As long as Carlos can keep his composure with his emotions in check he could be in for a huge night. In case you're unaware this matchup goes well beyond the numbers, as Martinez's good friend Jose Fernandez passed away at the end of last season as he tragically died in a boating accident. Not only will history be on his side, and in all likelihood the baseball gods, but also the numbers. Carlos has been terrific this season and is a solid favorite on the road in a pitcher friendly ballpark against a sub par opposing pitcher. I expect solid ratios and a bunch of K's in a likely win.

DFS Infielders to Consider on Yahoo

Catcher (C) - Yasmani Grandal vs PIT ($12)

Grandal has been solid in his career against RHP and that bodes well for him on Monday night as he'll face some RHP named Trevor Williams at home at Chavez Ravine. It's okay, I've never heard of him either. In any case Yasmani has posted a .201 ISO, 343 wOBA and a wRC+ of 120 against northpaws in his career. At home those numbers go up to .214, 353 and 132. For the low low price of $10 you should join me and get Grandal into all of your lineups Monday evening.

First Base (1B) - Carlos Santana at TOR ($13)

Carlos Santana has been solid this season against RHP as he's managed a .181 ISO, 353 wOBA and a wRC+ of 127. Although Marcus Stroman is a solid RHP he left his last start because of injury and I love the park shift to the extremely hitter friendly Rogers Centre. It also helps that Carlos is priced as low as he is and a solid value play because of it.

Second Base (2B) - Starlin Castro at CIN ($18)

Starlin Castro has quietly had one of the best starts to the season of any player in the league as he has amassed an impressive eight fantasy points per game. The only second baseman to average more thus far is Daniel Murphy. On Monday night Castro and the Yankees will face RHP Rookie Davis in the hitter friendly confines of Great American Ballpark. That bodes well for Starlin and his owners in the fake game because he's obliterated RHP this season to the tune of a .217 ISO, 415 wOBA and a 172 wRC+. Those are ginormous numbers, and it's worth pointing out that all six of his HR this season have come against northpaws.

Third Base (3B) - Wilmer Flores - vs SF ($7)

Wilmer is one of my favorite value plays on a night where there are some expensive bats in action and high quality SP that is even more expensive. On Monday night Flores will face LHP Matt Moore and that's a good thing as he's notched a .523 slugging percentage and a .250 ISO against southpaws over his career. Not only is he a good value, but he'll also likely be a contrarian play on a night when saving money is key.

Shortstop (SS) - Trevor Story vs CHC ($15)

Story has had a rough start to the season in the average department, but he's still managed to clobber six home runs. On Monday night he'll face Jake Arrieta and the Cubs at home at the hitter's paradise of Coors Field. In his short but storied career (sorry) he's posted a .253 ISO against RHP. At home that number goes up to .309. Story is a fairly risky invest on Monday night, but the upside is large, and the reward is certainly worth the risk in GPP's.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on Yahoo

Kyle Schwarber at COL ($16)

Kyle Schwarber is similar to Story as they've both started slow and are known for their immense HR power. Kyle has hacked his way to a .198 batting average thus far this season, but he has managed a .321 OBP despite the bad average. On Monday night he'll face RHP Antonio Senzatela at Coors Field. In his career Schwarber has blasted righties to the tune of a .247 ISO, a .373 wOBA and a wRC+ of 136.

Jose Bautista vs CLE ($13)

Joey Bats has had a rough start to the 2017 season as he's just .174 thus far, but he has a nice matchup on Monday night against Trevor Bauer and the Indians at home at the Rogers Centre. As recently as last season Bautista mashed RHP at home to the tune of a .255 ISO, a .355 wOBA and a 121 wRC+. At just 13 bucks Jose is a strong value play. Sooner or later he's going to break out of his funk and Monday could very well be the night that he does it.
