The New York Giants and New Orleans Saints took part in a shootout for the ages on Sunday afternoon, and it's one that had the attention of the NFL world as the early NFL action began to come to a close. While the Giants and Saints went back-and-forth with early scores, leading to a 28-21 Saints lead at halftime, the two teams didn't slow down in the second half. To make things even more incredible, neither team had a rushing touchdown, so it was all Eli Manning and Drew Brees in this one.
Manning wound up completing 30 of 41 passes for 350 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. On the other side of the ball, Brees joined an elite class of seven other players who have thrown seven touchdowns in a game. His final stat line featured 40 completions on 50 passes for 511 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception. The two quarterbacks combined for 861 yards and 13 touchdowns, and had fantasy days that probably single-handedly won players their matchups this weekend.
Between the Giants and Saints, they had 47 total rushes for 190 yards and no touchdowns. Mark Ingram led all rushers with 80 yards. As for the receivers, Odell Beckham Jr. and Benjamin Watson were the two primary benefactors of the high scoring affair, as Beckham caught eight balls for 130 yards and three touchdowns, and Watson finished with nine catches for 147 yards and a touchdown.
There were a total of eight players who found the end zone, including Shane Vereen, Dwayne Harris (twice), Marques Colston, Brandin Cooks (twice), Willie Snead (twice) and C.J. Spiller to go along with Beckham and Watson. You don't see games like this one very often, and it was quite a bit of fun to watch. While all of these players had pretty excellent fantasy days, you should absolutely temper expectations moving forward, because this kind of widespread production comes maybe once in a season.
