Daily Fantasy Football Picks and Advice: Week 5 NFL DFS DraftKings Lineups and Sleepers

Welcome to the Week 5 edition of Daily Fantasy Football DraftKings targets. An introduction is not really all that necessary, as the title of this DFS article pretty much sums up what is going to be discussed.

It's important to identify players with good matchups, but we also want to look at their DraftKings prices so we can hopefully find low-cost / high-production players for your lineups.

I will be providing one top DFS play and one DFS value play at each position for Week 5 NFL DraftKings action. Let's get down to it.

DraftKings DFS Quarterbacks for Week 5

Tom Brady (at DAL, $7,900)

It is becoming increasingly difficult to avoid Tom Brady in daily fantasy football, especially after he had the week off to prepare against the Dallas Cowboys' injury-plagued defense. So far this season, he has 1,112 passing yards, nine touchdowns, no interceptions, and a 119.6 QB rating. The Cowboys are right around the middle of the league in passing yards allowed so far this season, but Tom Brady is a challenge that they have yet to face. He is averaging close to 30 fantasy points per game over his short three-game season, and in the only game he threw for under 300 yards, he had four touchdowns. If you are playing in 50/50 contests this week, Tom Brady is the QB to roll out.

Carson Palmer (at DET, $6,600)

Carson Palmer is another interesting and consistent QB option this week, as he plays against the Detroit Lions, who are struggling right now on the defensive side of the ball. Palmer has looked good all season long, averaging just under 25 fantasy points in four games this year. He has a 106.4 QB rating, 1,155 passing yards, 10 touchdowns, and three interceptions. The Arizona Cardinals gunslinger should be able to rip apart the Detroit Lions struggling pass defense, as they are currently allowing 271.5 passing yards per game. Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown are going to lead the team in receiving as they always do, so it is smart to pair Palmer with one of these two WRs.

DraftKings DFS Running Backs for Week 5

Le'veon Bell (at SD, $8,500)

Le'veon Bell is just too good to pass up regardless of his price. This week, he faces off against the San Diego Chargers, who are currently allowing 126.8 rushing yards per game to the opposing team. Bell, in only two games, has 41 carries for 191 rushing yards and two touchdowns. To add to that, he also has 14 receptions for 91 yards in the air. Catching the ball seven times per game really gives Bell the boost he needs to destroy all the other elite fantasy RBs. Last week, he torched the Baltimore Ravens for 129 yards and a touchdown on his way to over 30 fantasy points. With Vick still at the helm for Pittsburgh, the focus will be entirely on Bell to help the Steelers win enough games to still be in the playoff race when Ben Roethlisberger returns.

Justin Forsett (vs CLE, $5,800)

I told everyone last week to not give up on Justin Forsett yet, and he went out and proved me right. This week, he gets a very juicy matchup against the Cleveland Browns, who are currently allowing 141.5 rushing yards per game to the opposing team. A lot of that probably has to do with the fact that they are losing games, and thus, the opposing team is running the ball a lot. This will be the case again this week, and Forsett will benefit greatly. Last week, the Ravens finally let him touch the ball as much as he should be, as he ran for 150 yards on 27 carries. He has yet to find the end zone, but I'm willing to bet that he breaks his scoreless streak this week. If you are looking for a lower-priced GPP RB this week, there is no need to look any farther than Forsett.

DraftKings DFS Wide Receivers for Week 5

Julio Jones (at WAS, $9,200)

Julio Jones was not really a huge part of the Atlanta Falcons' offensive attack last week against the Houston Texans because the game seemed to be over before it really started. Freeman put the entire team on his back and led them to victory, so there was no reason for Jones to really get all that involved, especially since he is dealing with a couple of minor injuries. This week should be slightly different. The Washington Redskins have looked good defensively, especially against the running game, so Jones will be involved. Looking at his stats last week does not do him justice, so use the first three weeks instead. He should easily catch over 10 passes and gain more than 100 yards in the air. Do not hesitate to use him in 50/50 games, as he has 38 receptions, 478 yards, and four touchdowns on the season.

Brandin Cooks (at PHI, $5,900)

"This is the week that Brandin Cooks will explode."

Well, that is going to be published, so everyone will know that RotoBaller said it first. He has had a less-than-spectacular season so far with only 20 receptions for 215 yards and no touchdowns, but Brees is back at the helm. The Philadelphia Eagles, despite having a seemingly above-average defense, really neglect to cover the short routes, which is what Brandin Cooks loves to run. Drew Brees looked like his shoulder was hurting him last game, so he will definitely be throwing the ball short early and often this week. Cooks should be open all game long, and I would not be surprised if he catches 12 or more balls and finds the end zone this week. At a sub-$6,000 price tag, get him into those tournament lineups.

DraftKings DFS Tight Ends for Week 5

Rob Gronkowski (at DAL, $7,500)

After a week off, Gronkowski is back on the field against the Dallas Cowboys this week. If you are playing Tom Brady at the QB position, just do yourself a favor and insert Gronk into the TE position. He has gone over 100 yards in two out of his three games so far this year, and in the first game, he only missed it by six yards. He has a touchdown in every single game, and he is going to score this week against the Cowboys. Even in a blowout, Gronk should catch 4-7 balls for over 100 yards and at least a touchdown. Use him in tournaments and cash games.

Owen Daniels (at OAK, $2,700)

Owen Daniels is the perfect tournament TE this week against the Oakland Raiders. Some of the more serious fantasy players are starting to realize that the Raiders simply cannot cover the TE, but a lot of people have yet to catch on. Owen Daniels has scored a touchdown in two of his four games this season, and he should find the end zone at least once this week. While he generally doesn't generate many receiving yards, this week could definitely be different, as the Raiders let the TE wide open on every play.
