MLB DFS Lineup Picks And Sleepers – DraftKings Advice For 8/15/15

A slew of great match-ups are set to occur across a full slate of games on Saturday, August 15th. The Blue Jays will take on the Yankees in Toronto, the Angels will battle the Royals in Kansas City, and out on the west coast the Giants are set to host the Nationals. Only a few ace pitchers will take the mound in the midst of all of those matchups, however, making picking the right pitcher especially valuable today. Here are a pair of offenses and pitchers to go along with a handful of hitters to target in DFS today.

Editor's Note: If you play on DraftKings, you should check out our Partner FanDuel - they're hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It's just $5 to enter and pays out $40,000 in cash prizes, including 4K to 1st place!

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

Kansas City Royals (vs LAA)

Fourth in the league in runs scored, the Royals lineup has proven among the most consistent in baseball thus far in 2015. There’s talent from top to bottom in Kansas City, and it’s almost a sure thing that someone will produce. Couple that with a home matchup against a pitcher in Matt Shoemaker who was tagged for seven runs in his last start, and any of the Royals become a good bet to put up good stats.

Toronto Blue Jays (vs NYY)

The only thing scarier than the Blue Jays offense is the Blue Jays offense at home. Baseball’s highest scoring offense has hit 91 HR in only 60 games at home this season while averaging more than 5.5 R/G in the process. They are simply the best offense out there and should continue to be so on Saturday, making each Blue Jay in the lineup a potentially valuable pick.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

Justin Verlander (SP, DET) - $7,200

Despite getting the loss in his last start, Verlander pitched well and now faces an Astros lineup prone to the strikeout on Saturday. Verlander has struck out nearly a third of the Astros hitters he’s faced in his career, and he has held the team to a .145 AVG. Some of that dominance from years back may shine through today.

Gio Gonzalez (SP, WSH) - $9,400

You’d have to look back nine starts to find the last time Gonzalez gave up more than two earned runs in an outing. The lefty has been dominant over the last couple of months and now faces a hot-and-cold Giants lineup. Giants’ hitters are hitting a cumulative .217 against Gio, suggesting the lefty’s hot streak could very well continue on Saturday.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Ian Kinsler (2B, DET) - $4,300

No hitter in baseball has as many hits as Kinsler over the last couple of weeks. The Tigers second baseman is hitting nearly .400 so far in August and is scoring runs at an impressive rate. His Saturday matchup against Collin McCugh of the Astros doesn’t hurt him either, reassuring the fact that Kinsler is a solid option at 2B today.

David Ortiz (1B, BOS) - $4,100

Ortiz has been hot as of late with a handful of home runs in his last week of games, and despite facing Felix Hernandez on Saturday the numbers suggest that surge could continue. Ortiz is hitting .395 across 38 career AB against Hernandez, and has taken the Mariners’ lefty long twice.

Matt Carpenter (3B, STL) - $4,500

Nearly half of Carpenter’s HR on the season have come in the last couple of weeks, and that power surge turns an already strong hitter into a great one. He’s not cheap, but provides a high floor and even higher ceiling. It helps that he has a fine matchup at home against lefty Brad Hand.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Nick Markakis (OF, ATL) - $3,800

A recent streak of hot hitting has Markakis’ batting average hovering around .300. He still provides almost nothing the power department, but his propensity to get on base and score runs, coupled with a possibility for RBI, makes him a reliable source of points facing Patrick Corbin on Saturday.

Grady Sizemore (OF, TB) - $2,700

If you’re looking for a cheap option in the outfield today, Sizemore is your guy. The once dominant veteran has been hot with four HR over the last week and a half. While he certainly won’t sustain that pace for a long time, there’s still time for DFS players to benefit.

Andrew McCutchen (OF, PIT) - $4,800

Still in the thick of an MVP-caliber season, McCutchen is among the cheapest superstar players you’ll find. He’s been on a tear over the last week with more than 20 TB and has had past success against Jon Neise, hitting .467 against the lefty over his career.
