MLB DFS Lineup Picks and Sleepers – DraftKings Advice for 5/31/15

Zitong's analysis and advice for the top MLB DFS lineup picks on DraftKings for 5/31/15, as well as MLB sleepers for your daily fantasy baseball DFS lineups.

Below are my MLB DFS lineup picks for Sunday May 31st, 2015. Always remember to check the MLB starting lineups, to see who is starting and sitting today, before finalizing your DraftKings lineup!

My goal with these DFS picks, as always, is to try and identify MLB players who will outperform their expectations today, based on their matchups and DraftKings prices. These players can be high-cost players, or they can be value pick sleepers, but we are always looking for players that have a chance to return the greatest value for your DFS lineups. Let’s get to it.

Editor’s Note: RotoBaller’s Premium DFS Lineup Picks & Tools help you get an edge for your DraftKings lineups with exclusive access to DFS tools and expert lineup picks. Also our DFS batters vs. pitchers tool helps you analyze today’s matchups and make optimal lineup decisions.

Offenses to Target for DraftKings Stacking

San Francisco Giants Middle of the Lineup vs Julio Teheran

The Giants have really improved their offense and have become one of the league’s most threatening lineups against right-handed pitching. The Giants lineup posts a wRC+ of 111 against right-handed pitching, good for second best in the league. The Giants have a nice matchup against struggling righty Julio Teheran, who has been incredibly inconsistent this year and just gave up eight earned runs in his last start. On the year, Teheran holds a 4.91 ERA with a 1.56 WHIP. Hunter Pence and Buster Posey look like excellent options to collect RBIs on Sunday.

Texas Rangers LHB vs Joe Kelly

The Texas Rangers look to have new found life after some early season slumps from their best sluggers. With many members of the lineup getting hot in May, the Ranger lefties have now improved to one of the top ten offenses in the league against right-handed pitching with a wRC+ of 110. They are matched up against Joe Kelly, who is in danger of losing his starting job after the rough starts he has had this year. Kelly holds a 6.24 ERA with a 1.45 WHIP on the year. Look to put Josh Hamilton and Prince Fielder in your lineup.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for DraftKings

David Price – SP – Tigers ($10,800)

David Price is as expensive as ever. However, he should be worth the pick because the top tier of pitchers on Sunday is rather small and there is a bunch of cheaper options for your secondary pitching slot. Price should be a priority because of his excellent matchup against the Angels. Price has been dealing as of late and has now posted three straight quality starts. He has lowered his ERA to 2.97 and holds a WHIP of 1.17.

Chase Anderson – SP – Dbacks ($5,500)

Chase Anderson has been a pleasant surprise for the Arizona Diamondbacks this year, as he currently holds a 2.59 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP. He has six quality starts on the year, and draws the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday. The Brewers have the second worst offense in the league against right-handed pitching, holding a wRC+ of 81. Look for Anderson to put up an excellent start and provide a lot of value for his low investment price.

DFS Infielders to Consider for DraftKings

Buster Posey – C – Giants ($4,200)

Buster Posey has remained the best option at catcher, especially with so many other catchers going down to injuries. Posey is as consistent as ever, and now holds a .301 average with 8 home runs and 27 RBI on the year. As mentioned earlier, Posey is matched up against Julio Teheran, whom he is 7-for-11 against with 2 home runs. With Posey’s reasonable price tag, he is the safest pick you can get in this position.

Albert Pujols – 1B – Angels ($4,000)

Albert Pujols struggled earlier this year, but has now picked it up as of late and currently owns a five game hitting streak heading into this weekend. He also hit home runs on both Thursday and Friday, and now holds a .250 average with 10 home runs and 20 RBI on the year. The matchup against David Price is tough but Pujols does have some home run success off of Price. At his current investment price, Pujols should provide incredible value for your lineup.

Jose Altuve – 2B – Astros ($4,400)

Like Buster Posey, Jose Altuve is another consistent option that could possibly get overlooked by other hot names in his position. However, he is still one of the best players available at second base and holds a .303 average with 5 home runs and 15 stolen bases on the year. Altuve will be matched up against opposing pitcher John Danks. Danks has been absolutely terrible against right-handed batters, and Altuve should look to take full advantage and get on base on Sunday.

Nolan Arenado – 3B – Rockies ($4,500)

Arenado has been on fire as of late. He now has four home runs in his last six games, and holds a .280 average with 11 home runs and 33 RBI on the year. Arenado’s production has also been helped by the fact that the Rockies lineup as a whole has been getting better lately. This has been giving him more opportunities to drive in runs. Arenado has a nice matchup on Sunday against the struggling Jerome Williams, who holds a 5.33 ERA with a 1.59 WHIP on the year.

Jose Reyes – SS – Jays ($4,400)

Jose Reyes continues to be an excellent option at shortstop on Sunday, as he has dominated his matchup against opposing pitcher Ricky Nolasco. Reyes extended his hitting streak to five games on Saturday, and is a lifetime 18 for 52 with 4 home runs against Nolasco. Reyes should also be in an excellent position to score some runs as Nolasco, who holds a 5.12 ERA with a 1.61 WHIP on the year, has really struggled against good offenses like Toronto’s.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for DraftKings

Hanley Ramirez – OF – Red Sox ($5,100)

Hanley Ramirez looks to be worth his investment price on Sunday, as he has hit consecutive home runs heading into the weekend. He has also been very effective against opposing pitcher Wandy Rodriguez, whom he is 10-for-27 against with a home run. Ramirez has slowed down a bit since his torrid start, but remains an excellent option at both the shortstop and outfield position while holding a .263 average with 12 home runs and 26 RBI on the year.

Giancarlo Stanton – OF – Marlins ($4,500)

Giancarlo Stanton remains undervalued at the outfield position due to his struggles to keep up his batting average. However, Stanton has fared well in his young career against opposing pitcher Bartolo Colon. Stanton is 5-for-8 against Colon, and has hit a pair of home runs off the veteran. Colon on the other hand has returned to earth after an incredible start to the year. His ERA has ballooned to 4.82. This looks to be a nice matchup for Stanton who just hit another home run on Saturday.
